Kansas City hospital dresses NICU babies in Chiefs gear for Super Bowl

The best thing you’ll see on Super Bowl Sunday may not even involve a football — and no, it’s not the amazing spread of game day snacks, either. The University of Kansas Health System has something much cuter in mind to celebrate the Kansas City Chiefs’ success in reaching the Super Bowl: sweet, tiny babies.

Babies in the Kansas City hospital’s neonatal intensive care unit (NICU), with the permission of their parents, were made game-ready. From Chiefs’ sheets and jersey to bows and headbands and more, the tiniest Chiefs’ fans are showing their support of the Chiefs as they take on the San Francisco 49ers in Super Bowl LIV on Sunday in Miami.

“Because we treat them like Chiefs, they dressed the part,” the hospital wrote in a Facebook post featuring the adorable team players. “In celebration of the upcoming Super Bowl and an impending visit from KC Wolf and Chiefs ambassador Shawn Barber, (with permission of their parents) our NICU babies were dressed as The Kansas City Chiefs players.”

The Facebook post, which has been shared more than 6,500 times, is seriously adorable and will pull at your heartstrings. Each of the NICU babies in the photos is fighting hard against health challenges, and each deserves a cheering section of his or her own.

NICUs across the country have frequently chosen to dress up some of their youngest patients in adorable outfits for special occasions such as Halloween (see more here and here) and Christmas (see more here) — so it makes perfect sense that the University of Kansas Health System would want to celebrate the Kansas City Chiefs’ special Super Bowl occasion with the littlest fans as well.
