Planned Parenthood's 'Killer' Year: Record-breaking abortions and taxpayer funds

Planned Parenthood's just-released 2024-2025 annual report exposes yet another record year for the abortion corporation, which topped its previous record for the highest number of abortions in a year as well as its previous record in taxpayer dollars.

Key Takeaways:

Increases in 2024-25:

  • Abortions hit a record-breaking 434,450 abortions in 2024-25, up 8% from the previous year. This equates to over 1,190 preborn lives every single day, nearly 50 per hour, and one every 73 seconds.

  • Based on the corporation's own past claims and Guttmacher Institute estimates, Live Action News estimates that Planned Parenthood is responsible for 42% of all chemical (abortion pill) abortions in the U.S.

  • Planned Parenthood commits over 57 abortions for every one prenatal care service, and kills over 143 preborn babies for every one adoption referral.

  • Taxpayer funding hit a record $832M for 2024-25, up 5% from the previous year. — a $39.8M increase. This equates to nearly $2.3M each day from American taxpayers.

  • Clients up less than 1%

  • Total services increased 5%.

  • Contraceptives up slightly over 2%

  • STI testing and treatment services up nearly 8%

  • Private Revenue up over 14% ($684.1M v. $782.2M), an increase of $98.1M.

  • Donors (“active individual contributors”) rose over 5% from 503K to 529K.

  • Total Revenue up 5.4%

  • Prenatal Care increased nearly 10%.

  • “Other Reproductive Health Services” increased over 7%.

  • Pregnancy Testing saw a slight increase.

  • Primary Care Visits increased over 6%.

  • Adoption Referrals increased over 41%.

Decreases in 2024-25:

  • Total cancer screenings down nearly 9%

  • Breast screenings dropped over 15%

  • Pap tests down nearly 2.5%

  • Excess revenue over expenses was down from a previous excess of $27.4 million to a deficit of $29.3 million.

  • Net Assets were down slightly from $3.12B to $3.11B.

  • Preventative Care Visits dropped over 3%.

  • Miscarriage Care (largely undefined) declined nearly 21%.

  • “Other” services dropped by nearly 20,000.

  • "Other Procedures" dropped over 35%.

The Details:

The news comes as certain Planned Parenthood affiliates are set to receive another year in Title X family planning dollars. The corporation lost federal Medicaid funding under the Trump Administration's Big Beautiful Bill, but this was for just one year — set to expire the day after our nation's 250th anniversary on July 4, 2026.

This was its largest funding source. However, the new 2024-2025 annual report calculates revenue from "the year ended June 30, 2025," which means those lost Medicaid dollars are not reflected in this report.

In 2024, Planned Parenthood reported seeing 2.09 million patients, collectively delivering more than 9.9 million services.

Abortions and Taxpayer Dollars

In 2023-2024, Planned Parenthood committed 402,230 abortions while receiving nearly $800M $(792.2M) in taxpayer funding.

The 2024-2025 report indicates that, despite the pre-planned closure of multiple brick-and-mortar Planned Parenthood centers last year, the corporation committed a record 434,450 abortions, an increase of 8% from the 402,230 it committed last year (2023-2024).

In 2024-2025, a whopping $832 MILLION in taxpayer dollars was sent to Planned Parenthood, an increase of 5% from the nearly $800M ($792.2M) it received the previous year (2023-2024).

However, after several years of accumulating excess revenue over spending, the organization saw a large drop in its excess revenue in 2024-25 ($29.3M).

Planned Parenthood now aborts over 1,190 preborn lives every single day while receiving nearly $2.3M each day from American taxpayers.

The Past Decade

Over the past decade [2014-15 to 2024-25 (year ending 6/30/25)], Planned Parenthood:

  • Committed nearly 4 million abortions (3,994,041) and received over $7.08B in taxpayer revenue.

  • Increased its abortions by nearly 35% (from 324k to over 434k).

In 25 Years

Since the year 2000, Planned Parenthood has:

  • committed nearly 8M abortions (7,969,391) while providing just 331K prenatal care services.

  • received nearly $12.3B from taxpayers while accumulating nearly $2,126M in excess revenue.

  • more than doubled its abortions (197k v 434.5k).

  • received more than a 310% increase in taxpayer funding (nearly $203M v $832M – year ending 6/30/2025).]

  • Planned Parenthood commits nearly 57 abortions for every "prenatal service" it provides.

Still Controlling Market Share on Abortion

In March of 2026, Guttmacher updated its abortion estimates for 2025 to 1,126,000 abortions, but the former "special affiliate" of Planned Parenthood specified that this was an underestimation due to some exclusions, and was "an increase of 21% from 2020, the last year of comprehensive national estimates before Dobbs."

The 2025 totals reflect nearly 3,085 preborn babies aborted per day, 21,654 per week, and nearly 94,000 per month.

So, how much of that is Planned Parenthood's?

Between 2000 and 2025, an estimated 27 million (26,884,905) abortions were recorded by Guttmacher, of which Planned Parenthood committed nearly one third.

Today, Planned Parenthood still controls nearly 40% (38.5%) of the U.S. market share of abortions, working with "patient navigators and support staff" to help "more than 171,000 people get abortion care since the Dobbs decision — helping with logistical and travel support, as well as patient assistance funds," the 2024-25 report claimed.

It added:

During the 2024-2025 fiscal year, Planned Parenthood affiliates disbursed $3.7 million to more than 12,200 patients to help them overcome barriers to abortion care — providing funding for transportation, lodging, meals, and dependent care while traveling to appointments.

Abortion Pill

Though Planned Parenthood’s report does not specify abortions by pill, its president has claimed that 70% of its abortion business is via this method. If that estimate holds, then it is possible the corporation committed over 304,000 chemical abortions in 2024-25. The corporation expanded services through its PPDirect app.

Based on national abortion pill estimates (732,000) for 2025 from the Guttmacher Institute, it is reasonable to estimate that Planned Parenthood now commits 42% of all chemical (abortion pill) abortions.

PP’s 2024-2025 report claimed:

In 24 states, Planned Parenthood affiliates provide medication abortion through telemedicine, reducing the need for patients to travel long distances to get the care they need.

Revenue

In 2024-2025, $832 MILLION in taxpayer dollars was sent to Planned Parenthood, up 5% from the nearly $800M ($792.2M) the previous year (2023-2024), when an estimated $200 million of Planned Parenthood’s revenue that year likely came from abortion alone.

Planned Parenthood's Government Health Services Reimbursements & Grants revenue accounted for 38% of the organization’s total revenue.

The 2024-2025 AR specifies:

National organization figures reflect operations of Planned Parenthood Federation of America, Inc. and Planned Parenthood Global, Inc. for the year ended June 30, 2025. Affiliate figures reflect the operations of 49 Planned Parenthood affiliates and are based on amounts reported in affiliate audited financial statements for fiscal years ended during 2024.

Private Revenue

Planned Parenthood recorded $782.2M in "Private Contributions & Bequests" for 2024-25 which includes "foundation grants, corporate contributions, and support from more than 529,000 active individual contributors. This also includes more than $35 million in bequests."

This is up over 14% from the $684.1M in private revenue in 2023-24.

While it claimed private donations made up 34% of overall revenue (down from 47% in 2022-23), the report also noted that donors “provide approximately 91% of PPFA’s revenue and 26% of affiliate revenue...”

While “active individual contributors” rose from 503K to 529K in the past year, they fell over 8% from the 2022-23 report (576,000) and over 27% (from 727,000) in 2021-22.

Excess Revenue

The new report revealed that, after several years of accumulating excess revenue over spending, the organization saw a decrease of ($29.3M) in excess revenue.

  • Planned Parenthood’s total revenue was ~$2.14B in 2024-2025 ($ 2,143.3M), up 5.4% from (~$2.03B) in 2023-24.

  • Expenses totaled nearly $2.2B ($ 2,172.6M), partly due to the funding of abortion travel.

However, since 2000, Planned Parenthood has accumulated approximately $2.1B in excess revenue.

As of June 30, 2025, Planned Parenthood’s net assets and total liabilities now sit at $3.11B.

Facilities, Clients, and Services

Planned Parenthood claimed in the new report to serve "2.09 million patients, collectively delivering more than 9.9 million services."

The 2.09 million clients is up less than 1% from the 2.08M reported in 2023-2024, but down nearly 33% from its record high of 3.1M in 2006.

Total services increased 5% from 9,450,743 last year to 9,920,575 in 2024-2025.

Last month, pro-abortion lawmakers issued a report claiming that President Trump's one-year, federal Medicaid defunding of abortion providers including Planned Parenthood in the "Big Beautiful Bill" was a "disaster," and that because of it, 23 PP facilities have had to close.

Planned Parenthood claimed its defunding could result in the closure of up to 200 facilities.

Despite playing the victim, Planned Parenthood was already bleeding cash, having lost donors due to its own "mission creep." It sought a financial bailout from states with pro-abortion leadership. Planned Parenthood's decreasing clients, deliberate shift to telehealth, unionizing of staff, and multiple scandals have been the greatest cause of closures.

Virtual Centers

As Planned Parenthood shutters brick-and-mortar facilities, it increasingly relies on telehealth — including the mailing of abortion pills. Its “Virtual Health Centers (VHCs)” across the country are part of a larger restructuring plan put in place years ago.

Today, its website still claims it has 600 facilities, which is clearly no longer the case as it adjusts its business model (moving toward telehealth) to enhance profits.

The abortion corporation's 2024-25 AR states:

Virtual Health Centers (VHCs) are a more efficient way for patients to learn what telehealth services are available at their local affiliate. In 2025 patients booked more than 62,000 appointments through VHCs, a 31% increase from the previous year.

Zoom In: Specific Services

Contraceptive Services/STI Treatments

Planned Parenthood’s total contraceptive services (including “counseling and care”) increased slightly over 2% from ~2.22M in 2023-2024 to ~ 2.27M in 2024-25.

However, these services are down over 43% (from just over 4M) in 2009.

The corporation did 5,422 vasectomies — its highest number recorded to date.

Overall, STI testing and treatment services increased nearly 8% in a year (from ~5.1M in 2023-2024 to ~5.5M in 2024-2025.

Total Cancer Screenings

Overall cancer screenings decreased, dropping nearly 9% (~426,268 in 2023-2024 to ~389,449 in 2024-2025.) Total cancer screenings are down 82% in a 20-year period, from a high of nearly 2.2M in 2004.

Breast screenings dropped over 15% (~191,197 in 2023-2024 to ~162,336 in 2024-2025). “Breast care” services have plummeted over 85% from a high of more than 1M in 2000. The organization occasionally partners with mobile mammogram clinics to offer screening outside its facilities, but PP only offers “breast exam” services and advises potential clients to seek referrals for mammograms.

Pap tests fell nearly 2.5% (~173,397 in 2023-2024 to ~169,081 in 2024-2025, but are down nearly 86% from a high of almost 1.2M in 2004. Less than 1% of women receive their Pap tests at Planned Parenthood.

Planned Parenthood also offers HPV vaccinations and colposcopy procedures (down from the previous year), among other screenings.

Prenatal Services

In the mid-to-late 1990s, Planned Parenthood suggested that prenatal care was its “fastest-growing area.” But for years, this has been declining. Live Action's undercover investigation exposed this, leading the corporation to purge misleading ‘prenatal care’ text from its own website.

Thumbnail for The Prenatal Care Deception

Today, Planned Parenthood’s website reflects the fact that only “some” Planned Parenthood facilities offer prenatal care.

Recently, prenatal care services at Planned Parenthood have started to tick up, increasing nearly 10% from 7,008 in 2023-2024 to 7,685 in 2024-2025 (quite possibly because in order to survive in abortion-restrictive states, certain centers resorted to offering more legitimate healthcare) but the service has declined drastically over time by 75% since its high in 2010.

Planned Parenthood commits nearly 57 abortions for every one prenatal care service it provides. Since 2000, while Planned Parenthood aborted nearly 8M preborn babies, it provided just 331K prenatal services.

Miscarriage 'Care'/Other Reproductive Services

Planned Parenthood’s “other reproductive health services” total (which once included a host of miscellaneous services like well-woman exams, pregnancy tests, prenatal care, and miscarriage care) increased over 7% (from 1,083,304 in 2023-2024 to 1,162,632 in 2024-2025).

The “well woman exam” category has been replaced by “preventative care visits” and decreased over 3%, from 129.6k in 2023-2024 to 125.4K in 2024-2025. The category has dropped nearly 47% from a “well woman exams” high of 235k in 2016.

Miscarriage care” is a relatively new service category, and some speculate that this includes treating abortion pill complications/incomplete abortions. While the category is undefined, this service also declined nearly 21% (from 3,598 in 2023-2024 to 2,852 in 2024-2025).

Pregnancy testing has risen and declined over the years, landing at over one million in 2024-2025, a slight increase from 943k in 2023-2024.

Other Services/Adoption Referrals

This ‘catch-all’ category comprises “other” services — totaling nearly 164K. This was down (from nearly 183k) the year prior. Primary care visits, which include “evaluations for referral to specialists” (possibly including “gender-affirming care” referrals), increased over 6% from 61,249 reported the previous year to 65,017 in 2024-2025.

Adoption referrals ticked up in 2024-25, increasing over 41% — from 2,148 in 2023-2024 to 3,038 in 2024-2025. But adoption referrals are still down over 38% from a high of ~4.9k in 2007. This means that for every adoption referral, Planned Parenthood kills over 143 preborn children.

👀“Gender-affirming care” is not individually listed as a category on Planned Parenthood’s report.

  • While PP recorded that 45 affiliates were “providing gender-affirming hormone therapy” in its 2022-23 report, it failed to identify a number in 2024-2025.

  • These services (sometimes provided to minors) are grouped under “other procedures,” which include “WIC services (a federally funded nutrition program for low-income women, infants, and children up to the age of five), pediatric care, transgender services, other adult preventive care, and high complexity visits, including infertility services.”

  • In past years, the “other procedures” category skyrocketed over 1500% (~16k in 2020 to ~257k in 2021), with some suspecting “gender-affirming” services to be the cause.

  • In 2024-2025, the "other procedures" service dropped over 35% from 77,858 in 2023-2024 to 50,411 in 2024-2025. By not specifying the services provided under broad categories, Planned Parenthood could easily bury these numbers wherever it chooses from year to year, making it nearly impossible to track based on annual reports.

The Bottom Line:

This corrupt organization is kept afloat by taxpayer funds, and its access to Medicaid and Title X clients.

The mountain of evidence of the decades of this corporation’s discrimination, documented Medicaid fraud, HIPAA violations, failure to report child sexual abuse, massive privacy breaches of client data, and more should disqualify it from getting one more cent of this funding.
