Planned Parenthood's events promoting STI testing raise predatory 'grooming' concerns

In a recently released 2024-25 report, Planned Parenthood reported on its record-breaking year ending the lives of 434,450 preborn children while receiving a record $832 million in taxpayer funding. The report — which ends June 30, 2025, and does not include any of the one-year Congressional defunding of abortion providers — also states Planned Parenthood provided “5.5 million STI tests & treatments,” including more than 814,000 HIV tests.

What Planned Parenthood does not report is how some of its affiliates provide some of the ‘testing and treatments’ it offers to the surrounding community. Though providing “STI tests & treatments” may cause one to picture an individual visiting a brick and mortar medical facility, this isn't always the case. Planned Parenthood’s outreach programs and events involving STI testing, some of which target youth, are disturbing.

Key Takeaways:

  • Planned Parenthood of the Rocky Mountains (PPRM) has both teen and adult groups for LGBTQ+ individuals.

  • Many of the adult LGBTQ+ events offering STI testing and treatment information (such as drag shows and BDSM events) provided by PPRM’s adult MPower group are also shared and advertised on the TeenMPower social media page.

  • Last year's PPRM "Lavender Prom" was marketed to teens and adults and offered "free rapid HIV testing" during the event, which “featured 4-5 grown adult males and drag performers,” and allegedly placed “children in potentially predatory sexual situations.”

The Details:

Recently, Live Action News discussed Planned Parenthood’s ‘grooming centers’ for teens. One such center is the TeenMP (teen’mpower), which is a part of Planned Parenthood of the Rocky Mountains (PPRM). According to its website, TeenMP specifically targets youth as young as 13, marketing itself as a “group of LGBTQ+ youth and allies who come together and make memories” with promises to provide “super comfy” couches, ample free food, dance parties, and game/movie events.

An upcoming event advertised by TeenMP is the annual “Lavender Prom,” which Live Action News noted “encourages participation across a broad age range of young teens with adults offering ‘free rapid HIV testing’ during the event.”

A recent New Mexico Alliance for Life (NMA4L) press release stated that last year's event “featured 4-5 grown adult males and drag performers,” which NMA4L stated is placing “children in potentially predatory sexual situations.”

PPRM’s adult version of the program, MPower Albuquerque, is intended for ages 18-29 and listed by the CDC as a provider in its National Prevention Information Network. MPower Albuquerque frequently advertises its “Drag Out HIV ambassadors” events. Many of these events like the “Red Light District Dance Party” and “Devotion” are held at local venues where the PPRM group goes to offer “free rapid HIV testing.” The same local venue also hosts other events, such as the “After Dark: The Bunny Hunt,” providing “BDSM demos and tastings” and “BDSM backroom videos.”

Many of these adult events offering STI testing and treatment information provided by PPRM’s MPower group are also shared and advertised on the TeenMPower social media page.

In fact, the two groups often table together at events—like the 2025 “HIV Glow Walk,” which offered “free testing” and “education” alongside free “water based lube” and condoms where people in scantily dressed “drag” costumes danced inside. Other MPower Albuquerque “Social Club” events offering “FREE rapid HIV testing” include men in animal-like BDSM costumes and frequently offer a “free drink ticket” with each test.

The Bottom Line:

Planned Parenthood claims to be "serving" communities, but its promotion of abortions and potentially sexually predatory outreach events under the guise of "health care services" target vulnerable teens.

Lawmakers must stop enabling Planned Parenthood and must immediately cease all taxpayer funding.
