Detransitioners expose dehumanizing common root of gender ideology and abortion
On a recent podcast, two female detransitioners discussed their healing journeys while exposing the underlying thread of dehumanization and death in a culture that celebrates abortion, gender ideology, and euthanasia.
On a recent podcast, two female detransitioners discussed how gender ideology impacted them, and how their true, underlying struggles were ignored as a result.
The women also noted that destructive gender ideology, abortion, and assisted dying are all connected as part of a culture of death, seeking to destroy human beings and their human dignity.
After turning 18, Maddie Durbin, the American host of The Bridge podcast, says she lived as a transgender man for six years and began detransitioning three years ago. Durbin began her podcast in hopes that speaking candidly on the topic would be beneficial for those seeking healing from the trauma and harm brought about by gender ideology.
In the first interview in Durbin's Detransitioner Series, Faith G. shared her experiences that led her to detransition after coming to the realization that the providers in her home country of Canada “didn’t have a clue what they were doing.”

Faith began socially transitioning at age 15 while struggling with mental health. As Live Action News' series, Beyond Abortion, explains, social transition interventions may include acceptance and use of incorrect sex pronouns, changing outward appearance to present as the opposite gender/sex or as gender neutral, and use of medicalized practices such as breast binding and tucking.
Though she was dealing with suicidal thoughts, Faith said that instead of focusing on underlying mental health diagnoses, the hospital insisted that she was a candidate for puberty blockers.
Faith noted that medical diagnostic testing is typically used to determine what illness or condition the medical provider is aiming to treat. However, when it comes to ‘gender affirming care’ (GAC), typical protocols seen in real healthcare practices, meant to heal, seemingly no longer apply. She said:
“I needed someone who was an expert to look at me and say, ‘Oh, this isn’t what you’re struggling with. You have these other things [mental health struggles]. Deal with these first. But they didn’t do that. And because of that and they treated it like a completely separate issue; there were things that were overlooked and that were completely ignored."
Faith said she began detransitioning at 24 years old.
“I had to step back to what I was born as… and figuring out what damage was done… and how do we fix it.”
But the journey to recovery and healing is not easy. Live Action’s undercover investigations have exposed how eager Planned Parenthood is to prescribe body-altering hormones to minors, even on the same day — but when calls come in asking for help to heal, there is silence. And then there are the legal struggles.
Legal Battles: Statute of Limitations
Durbin spoke of the legal battles across national borders when seeking justice, due in part to statute of limitations. For many who have been harmed by gender ideology, the short time frame allotted to bring these types of medical malpractice cases is far too short — expiring merely two years after starting ‘gender-affirming’ treatments in some areas.
A recent case in Texas Supreme Court (SCOTX) was decided in favor of detransitioner Soren Aldaco. The Texan reported that SCOTX reversed the lower court's ruling which stated that Aldaco’s claims “began when Soren Aldaco’s surgery occurred, not when it was recommended” and may help to set the precedent needed for other detransitioners.
Ideological Beast
Such a short statute of limitations is “not really realistic,” Durbin stated. “When we’re talking about what this issue is… it’s almost like this large ideological beast that we’re tackling because it's something that people actually start to believe about themselves. That there’s something wrong with them. That these surgeries and treatments are ‘medically necessary,’ that we need them…. Coming out of it is kinda, like, mind shattering, world shattering… It’s very disruptive to your life.”
An “ideological beast” is a proper description.
Live Action’s latest report breaks down much of that “beast” that must be defeated, which Planned Parenthood and all who promote and provide ‘gender affirming care’ and its ‘grooming’ tactics are bolstering. That “beast” is a political and ideological agenda known as Queer Theory, which is rooted in neo-marxism and aims to dismantle traditional frameworks and challenge objective reality.
The report further explains that “any group that promotes ‘gender-affirming’ ideology is in agreement with and a propagandist of Queer Theory.” That ideology is rampant throughout the education system and every major institution with which Planned Parenthood is associated. With federal Medicaid funding recently restored to Planned Parenthood, the American taxpayer is forced to fund it along with its ideological propaganda, which teaches minors to spread its message among peers.
Seeing an underlying dehumanizing connection between euthanasia and the gender-ideology agenda, Durbin asks Faith how she views the relationship is between the two.
“Our MAiD service is out of control,” Faith responded. “I think its absolutely absurd that you can have two different people who say, ‘I’m going to kill myself’ for different reasons” and only one seems to get any type of medical attention.”
This same idea is often used to manipulate parents into "transitioning" their children, with so-called experts claiming that the only choices are 'transition' or eventual suicide.
Live Action News has reported that Medical Aid in Dying, or MAiD, makes up 5% of all deaths in Canada, and surpassed 100,000 deaths in 2026.
Durbin said that as a detransitioner experiencing grief, she realized she would likely be a candidate for MAiD. But she questioned why the government wouldn't "help people to choose life" instead of offering death.
This isn’t just a Canadian problem. In the U.S., 13 states and the District of Columbia have legalized assisted suicide. Live Action News reported that a bipartisan group of Congressional lawmakers recently sent a letter to Health and Human Services (HHS) Secretary Robert F. Kennedy, Jr. asking for oversight and the establishment of “reporting requirements in the hospice program to better monitor the provision of medically assisted suicide for discrimination against people with disabilities, older adults and other vulnerable populations.”
The podcast conversation then shifted towards abortion, with Durbin asking about the state of abortion laws in Canada.
“It's become normalized and some use it as a form of contraception,” Faith responded. “Once you rip away… what looks like freedom… it’s like underneath it, we’re normalizing murder."
In March, the Canadian Institute for Health Information (CIHI)—which relies on voluntarily provided information from abortion businesses, hospitals and other facilities across Canadian provinces and territories — reported 102,705 preborn lives ended by abortion.
According to National Right to Life, CIHI 2024 reported numbers are the “second-highest number of abortions recorded in the last [20] years (after 108,784 abortions recorded in 2011),” and noted suspicions of underreporting possibly due to the proliferation of chemical abortion drugs.
In the U.S., Planned Parenthood, a self-proclaimed ‘leader’ in GAC, provides an elucidating portrayal of the pseudo-scientific protocols associated with GAC. Live Action Research Fellow Carole Novielli reported on the “lack of rigor” in Planned Parenthood’s “informed consent” model for GAC, which “simply means that it allows people (even minors) to self-diagnose with no mental assessment of any kind, and often gives them cross-sex hormones often upon first visit.”
Live Action News has reported on several testimonies by detransitioners where Planned Parenthood prescribed hormones or puberty blockers despite young patients openly divulging struggles with mental illness, suicidal thoughts, and trauma from sexual abuse. Instead of addressing the root causes of the patients distress, vulnerable youth and adults alike are often manipulated by clinics and providers like Planned Parenthood when these patients need truthful and compassionate healthcare the most.
Dehumanization of one class of human beings results in the dehumanization of all.
The casualties of a culture of death know no bounds when the humanity and inherent right to life of an entire class of preborn human beings is denied. After killing the most innocent among us, body-harming procedures, euthanasia, and assisted suicide are an easy progression — all built upon a lie that says human life doesn’t matter. But life does matter.
Despite the lies of a culture that celebrates death, the truth is that life is beautiful, life is worth fighting for, and life is worth living, because as Durbin concluded, “Life is the greatest gift and we should value and cherish that… more than anything else.”
