Actor Tom Pelphrey at the Emmys: 'Baby girl in that belly, Daddy loves you!'
At the 2026 Emmy Awards on Monday evening, actor Tom Pelphrey acknowledged his fiancée — actress Kaley Cuoco ("The Big Bang Theory"), their daughter, and their preborn baby girl as he took home an Emmy for Outstanding Supporting Actor in a Drama Series for his role in the HBO crime drama series, "Task."
Actor Tom Pelphrey won an Emmy on Monday, thanking God and his family.
He specifically spoke of his pregnant fiancée, actress Kaley Cuoco, their young daughter, and their preborn daughter.
In his speech, he said, "Baby girl in that belly, Daddy loves you!"
The couple met in 2022 in a meeting that Cuoco described as "love at first sight." She once explained, "... Tom walked in, and I heard his voice, and I turned around, and it was like my life was over, or just starting."
They announced they were expecting their first child, Matilda, five months after they started dating. They then announced in August 2024 that they were engaged, and in June 2026, they shared that they were expecting their second daughter, with Cuoco saying, "[W]e are so grateful."
“[Completing] our little family,” Cuoco wrote in an Instagram post, “what a dream come true.”
In April, Pelphrey spoke with fellow 'girl dad' Dax Shepard, telling him about the joy he has experienced as a father:
"The gifts of getting to be a father, to finally understand what unconditional love is both ways, like ... there's nothing she could ever do where I wouldn't love her with all of my being.
And I also know... like the feeling when I walk in the room, and she is excited to see me. She does not give a f*** about anything I did or not do. What a beautiful gift."
On Monday, as Pelphrey accepted the Emmy, he thanked God and his family:
"Wow. This is incredible. Thank you. I thank God for my life and my sobriety. I thank my family and my friends for all of your love and support all of these years....
And to my favorite actor in this room —my love, my best friend, my partner, the very pregnant Kaley Cuoco, I love you more than anything. And our family is the crown jewel of my life.
Matilda, Daddy loves you. Baby girl in that belly, Daddy loves you. Thank you. God Bless."
Cuoco cried as he spoke and could be seen mouthing, "I love you." Next to her, cheering on Pelphrey, was "Task" director Mark Ruffalo, a staunch supporter of abortion, who has shared that his mother had an abortion before he was born.
According to the National Catholic Register, Pelphrey was raised Catholic and often shares his faith on social media. He also acted as the voice of Jesus in a recent audio project hosted by pro-life actress Patricia Heaton.
“I found a kind of solace in [being Catholic],” Pelphrey said. “Reading that Bible as a young boy was the beginning of how I felt like I was developing a personal relationship with God.”
Regarding playing Jesus, he said he was intimidated, but ultimately, after prayer, he took the role. "I just want to be of service," he said.
Our children in the womb are exactly that — our children. Our love and responsibility to take care of them do not begin at birth. From the moment of fertilization, both of his daughters have been Pelphrey's "baby girl," worthy of love and life.
