Planned Parenthood 'pop-up' events spread misinformation
Planned Parenthood's "No Matter What" pop-up events have taken place in New York and Los Angeles, spreading misinformation about pro-life laws under the guise of 'education.' And there are plans to visit more cities.
No Matter What: A Pop-Up by Planned Parenthood was featured in New York and LA, with a third unannounced city coming up.
The exhibit highlights several claims and sexist comments that are aimed at convincing women they need Planned Parenthood, birth control, and abortion to be successful and free.
It claims without proof that pro-life laws send women to the ER, while neglecting to mention that anywhere from 6-11% of women (according to various studies and analyses) who take the abortion pill end up there.
It also claims that the Trump administration has made decisions that have led to Planned Parenthood closures, but Planned Parenthood's telehealth business model includes planned closures of several of its brick-and-mortar facilities.
In June, Planned Parenthood Federation of America (PPFA) opened its "immersive art installation in New York City — No Matter What: A Pop-Up by Planned Parenthood." It was a two-day event that was marketed as "a series of profound sensory experiences that ground [visitors] in the care Planned Parenthood health centers provide."
PPFA claimed, "The installation also educates the public on the real-life devastation brought on by the Trump administration's 'defunding' of Planned Parenthood." The abortion giant claims that the year-long defunding of Planned Parenthood forced facilities to shut down, causing "a deepening health care crisis."
A second installment of the pop-up took place in Los Angeles in October, and a third is planned at a yet-to-be-disclosed location.

The pop-up contains several claims and sexist comments that are aimed at convincing women they need Planned Parenthood, birth control, and abortion to be successful and free.
A sign at the event claims, "The local Planned Parenthood health center that you or a friend has visited in the past has been forced to close. Without it, there's no health care provider in your area that you trust to listen to you, support you, and provide you with the expert sexual and reproductive health care you need."

But the truth is:
Planned Parenthood closures started long before the one-year defunding
Federally funded community health centers (offering the same services aside from abortion) outnumber Planned Parenthood locations and always have
Let's take a look — Planned Parenthood facilities began closing more than a decade ago due to financial shortfalls and deficits as its number of services, clients, and donors declined. It also closed facilities in favor of a more virtual-based business model to cut overhead costs. As previously explained by Live Action News:
Restructuring, closures, and even the expansion of its telehealth program to ALL of its affiliates began long before any discussion of federal defunding.
Read more here.
And while Planned Parenthood is attempting to scare women into thinking they can only trust the staff at its facilities, the truth is that patients have attested to being treated horribly by Planned Parenthood staff members.
Women have filed lawsuits claiming Planned Parenthood pushed them into unwanted abortions
Patients have filed suits due to botched abortions, improperly implanted birth control, and failure to notice a patient was four months pregnant before inserting an IUD that caused the child's death.
Other options in California
Meanwhile, the state of California has 171 federally qualified community health centers (FQHC), which, according to The California Health Care Foundation, operate 2,421 individual service sites across the state. The Foundation reported that in 2024, the number of patients receiving care at FGHCs increased 24% to 5.8 million despite a decline in federal funding.
Seventy-two percent (72%) of patients were covered under Medi-Cal state insurance.
Other options in New York
According to Statista, New York has 63 FQHCs. The Community Health Care Association of New York State (CHCANYS) reports services at 850 locations serving 2.3 million New Yorkers a year.
According to its website, "CHCANYS supports FQHCs with tools and information necessary to maintain and improve existing programs, strengthen core services, and build new programs. Our highly-skilled staff work to ensure that all New Yorkers have continuous access to high-quality, community-based health care services through health policy leadership, regulatory reform, and grassroots advocacy."
Another of the signs in the Planned Parenthood exhibit states:
Stop. Something's wrong and you need medical help right now.
Because the local Planned Parenthood health center was forced to close and there are limited health care providers in your area you end up in the ER.
The ER visit costs you thousands of dollars and you now have major unexpected medical debt.
The truth is that, as stated, Planned Parenthood has been moving itself out of communities for more than a decade, and it is Planned Parenthood sending women to the ER, thanks to its telehealth abortion pill.

The abortion pill (mifepristone) comes with a black box warning for sepsis and hemorrhaging, along with infection, but that information is typically not disseminated by the mainstream media and is downplayed by Planned Parenthood itself. Marketed as being 'safer than Tylenol,' the truth is:
The FDA’s 2023 mifepristone label acknowledged that 2.9 to 4.6% of women who take the abortion drug will need emergency care, and six percent (6%) of women who took the abortion pill in a telehealth study required emergency care.
The manufacturer’s medication guide notes that up to seven percent (7%) of women will “need a surgical procedure” to complete the abortion because of the abortion pill's high failure rate (which, by the way, increases with gestational age).
An analysis, “The Abortion Pill Harms Women,” published by the Ethics and Public Policy Center (EPPC), found that nearly 11% of women (10.93%) who take the abortion pill experience sepsis, infection, hemorrhaging, or other serious or life-threatening adverse events as a result.
Because the Biden administration lifted safety regulations that had been in place on mifepristone for 20 years, the abortion pill became available via telehealth and online.

Women are now taking the abortion pill (or being drugged by someone else) without any medical oversight, meaning they might be well past the FDA's gestational limit for the abortion pill (increasing their risks), may be experiencing an ectopic pregnancy (which is a medical emergency), or may have a contraindication that makes taking mifepristone dangerous for them.
There is also no follow-up appointment available to women who order the abortion pill in this way, and they may be too afraid to seek help when necessary because pro-abortion tall tales have convinced them that doctors will let them die.

A large installation in the exhibit claims "birth control is potential."
This is a sexist comment that implies women cannot reach their full "potential" if they have children. It's straight out of the pro-abortion playbook. Abortion was sold to the American public as a final step in achieving equality for women. The first step was legalized birth control. But nearly five decades later, legalized abortion hasn’t liberated women.
To claim that women must have birth control and abortion access to reach their potential or be equal to men is to imply that women are not equal without them — that because of their fertility, they are somehow “less than.”

The same installation claims 'abortion is freedom.' In 2023, it became clear that this was the new mantra of the abortion industry. It was no longer about "choice," but "freedom." As previously reported by Live Action News:
The term ‘pro-choice’ was successful for so long because most Americans don’t want to be accused of being “against” someone else’s ability to make “choices.”
By framing abortion as a “choice” (and hiding the victims), the abortion industry was able to convince Americans that abortion was nothing more than someone’s decision to not become a parent — and no one had the right to tell them otherwise. This tactic has largely worked, and most Americans have no idea how rapidly children develop in the womb or what an abortion entails. Now that “choice” has been given to the people by way of state governments following the Supreme Court’s decision in Dobbs v. Jackson Women’s Health Organization overturning Roe v. Wade, describing abortion as a “choice” no longer works to the advantage of abortion advocates.
Without Roe in place to force legalized abortion upon every state, the people in individual states can now choose to vote in favor of pro-life leaders and laws protecting preborn children from abortion — which means the pro-abortion marketing machine had to come up with a new propagandistic message. What fits the narrative better than the idea of freedom? Americans love freedom...
But the very act of abortion ignores the freedom that belongs to every human being, including those in the womb, to live out their own lives. No one should use their personal freedom to oppress innocent people, especially not to the point of death.

Planned Parenthood is an abortion business that purports to be a healthcare organization and is not the only or best option for women who need cancer screenings and wellness checkups.
The abortion pill is dangerous. Abortion kills preborn children and harms women. Children are gifts — not burdens.
