Med school externship requires students to 'encounter' at least 50 abortions
Medical students begin their studies with the goal of learning to help and heal patients, but at some schools, there's an expectation that students learn to kill the most vulnerable patients they will see.
The University of Chicago Pritzker School of Medicine offers an abortion externship.
The Medical Students for Choice Reproductive Externship connects medical students with abortion facilities and provides financial assistance to help students cover costs associated with taking part in the externship.
Students who participate must be present for at least 50 abortions and have at least two weeks of abortion-related clinical exposure.
The University of Chicago's (UChicago) Pritzker School of Medicine is advertising an externship that requires students to be exposed to at least 50 abortions. The Medical Students for Choice (MSFC) Reproductive Externship connects students to abortion facilities and gives students financial assistance to take part in abortion-related clinical experience.
According to Campus Reform, the externship "requires at least two weeks of clinical exposure, during which participants must encounter a minimum of 50 abortion procedures. MSFC provides financial and logistical assistance to eligible applicants."
Students can receive funding for abortion-related training and MSFC’s guidelines list eligible expenses that can be covered as travel, housing, commuting, and host facility costs. MSFC has a database of potential abortion facilities at which students can take part in the abortion training and it will assist students in finding an abortion business with which to work.
The UChicago website states that the purpose of the externship is:
To fund students’ efforts to obtain clinical exposure to abortion care through an externship.
MSFC offers 2 abortion training options: the Clinical Abortion Observation and the Reproductive Health Externship. Both programs provide financial and logistical support for your efforts to obtain clinical exposure to abortion care. The Clinical Abortion Observation is a short program, lasting between 3 days and 2 weeks. The RHE is at minimum 2 weeks in duration and participants are required to have exposure to at least 50 abortion procedures.
Although MSFC says its medical student programs are observation-based, individual facilities hosting the students can decide whether those students receive hands-on training, meaning they would commit abortions or help with committing abortions rather than watching.
MSFC is a national organization that advocates for the expansion of abortion training for medical students with the goal of increasing the number of doctors who are willing to commit abortions.
According to the pro-abortion Guttmacher Institute, only seven percent (7%) of U.S. obstetrician-gynecologists who work in private practice settings were willing to commit abortions in 2013 or 2014. Hence, the push to train more doctors to commit the procedures.
