Pro-abortion politician mistakes Disney promo mailer for pro-life ‘hate mail’
A pro-abortion politician received a promotional mailer for the upcoming Disney movie “The First Omen,” and has told the media she receives so much hate mail, she immediately mistook it for a pro-life threat.
Business Insider reported that Amanda Taylor, a film critic currently running for office in Missouri, received a mailer that she assumed was a threat from angry pro-lifers. In the letter, there is a floating child surrounded by women in black, with their faces scribbled over. “Right away, I was thinking, ‘Ah, this has something to do with abortion,” Taylor told Business Insider. “The day before I had received something from a pro-life organization so I was like, ‘Okay, I’m starting to receive all the propaganda stuff.'”
Taylor gave it to her campaign adviser, who called the police; the letter, however, was simply a promotional mailer for Disney’s upcoming horror film. (SPOILER ALERT: “The First Omen” has a plot which includes things like bestiality, incest, and the birth of the antichrist, named Damien in the film. It is thought by some to be a “pro-choice” film.)
It wasn’t until they received the second mailer that Taylor and her team realized the mistake. In the second letter, one girl floats in the air as five others look up at her, and this time, the mailer included press information. It was only then, Business Insider said, that Taylor and her family knew they were “safe” from the pro-life movement.
“That was the best promotion I’ve ever seen,” she said. “But it’s also the one that’s affected me the most.”
It is true that there have been attacks from pro-lifers towards abortion advocates, but in the last two years since Dobbs v. Jackson Women’s Health Organization was decided, which overturned Roe v. Wade, the overwhelming majority of abortion-related violence and threats have been directed towards pro-lifers, with abortion activists as the culprits.
Pro-abortion group “Ruth Sent Us” doxxed U.S. Supreme Court justices, organizing protests in front of their homes, and even threatening two of the justices’ children. They gave explicit directions on how to get to the school Amy Coney Barrett’s children attended, encouraging people to go there for protests. They also targeted Justice Brett Kavanaugh’s wife, Ashley, with a tweet including a photo taken outside her children’s school. An assassination attempt was even made against Justice Kavanaugh… yet all the while, U.S. Marshals were specifically instructed not to arrest anyone involved in the protests directed towards the justices.
FBI Director Christopher Wray eventually confirmed in testimony before Congress that the majority of abortion-related violence has been directed toward the pro-life movement, and not abortionists or abortion supporters.
Though no one should be made to feel afraid for exercising their political rights to vote or run for office, the reality is that the media narrative of the pro-life movement as angry, violent, and hate-filled is simply not based in reality.
