‘Mission: Impossible’ star reveals she was eight months pregnant in key fight scene
There’s a hidden star in the latest “Mission: Impossible” movie — the preborn baby of actress Hayley Atwell. She recently revealed that while filming and performing stunts in a fight scene for “Mission: Impossible — The Final Reckoning,” she was eight and a half months pregnant.
Actress Hayley Atwell stars in the latest “Mission: Impossible” film alongside Tom Cruise.
During a recent interview with Jimmy Fallon on The Tonight Show, Atwell revealed that while reshooting a pivotal fight scene, she was eight and a half months pregnant.
She welcomed her first child with Ned Wolfgang Kelly in 2024.
While appearing on “The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon” last week, Atwell, 43, shared a clip of the film. She said, “I want to say something I’ve never said before, actually. This is a Fallon exclusive, but during this fight sequence, we came back to it a few times to add a few elements to it. And in this clip, I’m actually eight and a half months pregnant.
Fallon reacted with extreme surprise. “Eight and a half months pregnant? Are you kidding me,” he said.
Atwell replied, “I’m serious. Yes. And I have to say, I was taken such good care of.”
She explained that she refused to have a double perform the stunts, managing to pull the physically demanding moves off herself, even though she was nearly nine months pregnant.
“Everyone was so supportive and they were like, ‘Oh, you can sit down, and we’ll have a stunt double do it.’ And I was like, ‘No! I’ve worked too hard. Let me do it.’ So I did it, and here it is.”
Fallon and the audience cheered for Atwell’s remarkable stunt performance during her pregnancy.

“Hayley Atwell, everybody! That’s how you do it!” Fallon said.
Atwell and her partner, Ned Wolfgang Kelly, welcomed their baby in 2024. The couple keeps details of the relationship private, but PEOPLE noted that Atwell called Kelly “my husband” in a May 19 episode of “LIVE with Kelly and Mark“, apparently affirming that she and her baby’s father are married.
Atwell has played the role of IMF Agent Grace in the “Mission: Impossible” franchise since 2023. “Mission: Impossible–The Final Reckoning” is the eighth and supposed final installment of the franchise, which has been running since 1996.
Abortion proponents like to push the false narrative that women cannot be pregnant or parenting while simultaneously finding success in their education or career goals. However, Atwell and countless other women are proof that mothers are strong and capable.
