Woman has seizure after early abortion at ‘disgusting’ Georgia facility

Operation Rescue reports that a woman experienced a seizure and required ambulance transfer at an abortion facility in Forest Park, Georgia, on April 30.

KEY TAKEAWAYS:

  • Reports show that the 26-year-old experienced a seizure after likely undergoing a first-trimester abortion.
  • Eyewitnesses reported seeing the young woman appearing “scarily unresponsive” while being loaded into an ambulance in the facility’s parking lot.
  • The abortion facility has numerous one-star reviews from former clients.

THE DETAILS:

The incident occurred at A Preferred Women’s Health, a facility that commits abortions via the abortion pill and first trimester suction D&C abortion up to six weeks of pregnancy. The 911 audio transcript and a CAD report both indicate that the woman was experiencing a seizure, requiring transfer to a hospital by ambulance.

As noted by Operation Rescue, the facility has numerous one-star reviews on Google, with reviewers noting that the facility is “disgusting” and “dirty.”

Most alarmingly, one reviewer said she ended up in the hospital on her “death bed” because facility workers gave her the abortion pill without first confirming if her pregnancy was ectopic — a situation which can present serious complications.

This, however, is not unusual. The “no-test” protocol — in which women receive no tests for gestational age, ectopic pregnancy, Rh factor, or any other testing before receiving the abortion pill — is now the norm.

WHY IT MATTERS:

Though it is unclear which abortion procedure the woman may have undergone, each comes with significant risks.

Multiple studies have demonstrated the danger of the abortion pill protocol, which includes the drugs mifepristone and misoprostol. One study found that the abortion pill is four times more dangerous than a first-trimester surgical abortion, while another, more recent analysis of insurance data found that nearly 11% of women (10.93%) experience sepsis, infection, hemorrhaging, or other serious or life-threatening adverse events (complications) following a mifepristone abortion. Studies show that serious adverse events from mifepristone occur at a rate approximately 22 times higher than the rate reported on the Food and Drug Administration’s (FDA) label for the drug.

The D&C abortion also carries the risk of injury to the uterus or cervix, which can potentially damage the intestines, bladder, and nearby blood vessels, cause hemorrhage, infection, and even death of the mother in rare cases.

THE BOTTOM LINE:

Operation Rescue President Troy Newman questioned what kind of “care” the young woman received at this abortion facility. “Was this woman in Georgia experiencing a reaction to mifepristone? Was she given too high of a dose? If she was a patient, did the staff of Preferred Women’s Health even ask if she had a history of epilepsy?” he asked.

Whether a woman has an abortion at a facility or at home, there are risks involved — no matter how early in pregnancy.
