Louisiana man charged for poisoning pregnant daughter with abortion drugs
A Louisiana man has been charged with attempted feticide and abuse of a pregnant woman after authorities say he gave his 17-year-old daughter abortion-inducing drugs without her knowledge or consent.
As a result, the girl was forced to deliver her baby by emergency c-section at just 23 weeks. As of Friday June 12, the infant was still hospitalized.
Authorities say Jamelle Kelly, 39, gave his pregnant daughter abortion drugs without her knowledge or consent.
The teen, who was 23 weeks pregnant, was forced to deliver her baby by emergency c-section.
As of June 12, the infant was still alive and being treated in the hospital.
Though Louisiana protects preborn children from abortion and prohibits the distribution of abortion-inducing drugs, abortionists have been able to flout those laws, mailing abortion pills into the state without any legal ramifications.
Jamelle Kelly, 39, of Carenco, Louisiana is accused of poisoning his pregnant 17-year-old daughter with abortion drugs to abort her child without her consent. The girl became ill and was hospitalized, where she underwent an emergency c-section to save her baby's life.
According to news reports, the girl was just 23 weeks gestation at the time of delivery. Her infant weighed approximately one pound at birth, and is expected to be hospitalized for a considerable amount of time due to prematurity.
Kelly has been charged with two felonies, including attempted first-degree feticide and domestic abuse/battery of a pregnant victim. He was released on bail on June 15, after just four days in jail.

Louisiana Attorney General Liz Murrill released a statement concerning this incident, saying:
“My prayers are with this mother and her baby, now fighting for life.
This terrible case shows the dangers of mifepristone and its illegal, irresponsible, and unchecked distribution in our state. We’ve challenged the Biden administration’s reckless expansion of dangerous mail-order abortion drugs with no oversight at all from a doctor. This isn’t healthcare — it’s criminal battery and attempted murder.
Anyone who secretly gives abortion drugs to a woman without her knowledge will be prosecuted to the fullest extent of the law.”
Though news reports do not detail the type of drug Kelly gave to his daughter, the widespread availability of the abortion pill though the mail without adequate vetting or doctor oversight has resulted in many instances in which abusive men have accessed the drugs and then used them to force, coerce, or trick women into taking the drugs without their knowledge or consent.
Louisiana law protects nearly all preborn children from abortion, and it also outlaws the distribution of abortion-inducing drugs. However, those drugs are still being shipped into the state from various suppliers, as 'shield laws' in pro-abortion states protect these suppliers from any legal ramifications.
The abortion pill regimen, consisting of the drugs mifepristone and misoprostol, are only FDA-approved up to 10 weeks of pregnancy. This case adds to the evidence that 1) people are obtaining and administering abortion drugs past FDA limits for the abortion pill regimen and 2) women and babies are being put at risk because of it.
The state of Louisiana has sought legal action against several abortionists for abortion pill trafficking, including Remy Coeytaux of California and Margaret Carpenter of New York (who has since relocated to Ireland); however, officials in both of those states promised to protect these law-breaking abortionists.
Easy access to the abortion pill has proven to be increasingly harmful to women who want to keep and parent their babies, only to have abusive men try and kill their preborn children. Women, and their children, deserve complete protection from the dangers of abortion.
