Sisters of Life launch new website to support pregnant women

The Sisters of Life, Catholic women religious devoted to protecting life and serving those impacted by abortion, have launched a new website aimed at helping pregnant and post-abortive women find resources and support.

Key Takeaways:

  • The new site VisCenter.org connects pregnant or post-abortive women with support offered by the Sisters of Life.

  • The website offers women the opportunity to speak about their pregnancy situation, a prenatal diagnosis, or a past abortion to a compassionate listener.

  • The Sisters of Life have a mission to help pregnant and abortion-minded women.

The Details:

The Sisters of Life have launched a website, VisCenter.org, to connect pregnant women in need with services and resources that can help.

The site's name, 'Vis,' means force or power.

"As women, we know that real power is unleashed when you feel listened to," the website states.

Visitors to the site are invited to click a button if they want to talk about their abortion, if they think they are pregnant and need more help, or if they have received an adverse prenatal diagnosis. From there, they are offered support, information, and encouragement. There is also the option to connect directly with a sister.

The Sisters' approach is seen clearly in their vision statement, which is displayed on the site:

As Sisters of Life, we care about you, the whole you — body, mind, and soul. That’s why we offer a holistic approach to pregnancy, because we know that before being a medical issue, it’s a spiritual issue — it’s an issue of the heart. We believe that a woman should be empowered to move in freedom, not in fear, and that’s why we stand in solidarity with every woman who is pregnant.

No woman should be left alone, used, or coerced.

... Every woman deserves to be listened to, loved, and supported towards full life-flourishing.

Serving pregnant women and women who have experienced abortion, we offer free, confidential, and compassionate spiritual and emotional accompaniment, practical pregnancy support, a network of resources, and opportunities for healing. Nobody is meant to walk alone. We’re here for you.

We’re all sisters, here.

The Backstory:

Founded in 1991, the Sisters of Life are Catholic religious sisters whose mission is to help pregnant women, especially those who are vulnerable to abortion. They offer support and resources to help women choose life with confidence. They also provide support to women who are living with abortion regret.

In 2023, Live Action honored the work of the Sisters at its Life Awards Gala.

“Tonight we recognize some of our nation’s greatest defenders of life. Each life awardee was carefully selected for their courage, commitment, and sacrifice to help create a world where every child is treasured,” Live Action team member Kimberly Bird told attendees. “These inspiring honorees have shown uncompromising and compassionate defense of preborn children and their families through their dedicated work and courageous impact.”
