Olivia Rodrigo raises $10M for abortion, gets $10M more from Melinda Gates

Singer Olivia Rodrigo has revealed that her pro-abortion fundraiser, Daisy Chain Fields Festival, raised $10 million for several pro-abortion organizations — an amount that was then matched with an additional $10 million grant from Melinda French Gates.

Key Takeaways:

  • Olivia Rodrigo announced that her Daisy Chain Fields Festival raised a total of $20 million for 10 organizations, some of which support abortion.

  • Half of the proceeds came as a matching grant from Melinda French Gates.

  • Both Rodrigo and Gates are well-known for supporting and promoting abortion.

The Backstory:

In June, Rodrigo announced her Daisy Chain Fields Festival, an all-women music festival with proceeds to go towards organizations that 'help' women and girls, including organizations that support abortion. The event took place in California on August 29, where Rodrigo was joined by performers Chappell Roan, Mitski, Doechii, Bikini Kill, the Breeders, Garbage, Eli, Quiet Light, Rachel Chinouriri, Devon Again, Not For Radio, Stevie Nicks, Karen O, and Sarah McLachlan.

In the weeks leading up to the festival, Rodrigo filmed several videos with the Center for Reproductive Rights, calling laws that protect preborn human beings "terrifying." The videos, which were released on social media, were also used to promote the music event.

The Details:

On Friday, Rodrigo announced that the festival had raised $10 million for 10 organizations, including Baby2Baby, Black Mamas Matter Alliance, Center for Reproductive Rights, FreeFrom, Jhpiego, Johns Hopkins Center for Indigenous Health, National Domestic Workers Alliance, National Institute for Reproductive Health, National Women’s Law Center, and Planned Parenthood.

She then took the stage Saturday night announcing that Melinda French Gates had pledged to double every dollar raised, bringing the total to $20 million.

“Melinda is one of the most inspiring women I’ve ever met. She’s devoted her life to empowering women and girls that might have otherwise been forgotten,” Rodrigo said. “She’s generous and brave and has done so much good in this world, and I’m totally floored because as well as being in attendance here tonight, she’s pledged to double every dollar that we made here today to a grand total of funds being donated to $20 million. I’m so grateful!”

"I really believe that giving women the tools to decide their own futures and live healthy lives free of violence and discrimination is the most effective tool we have at changing the world for the better," Rodrigo said. "And I don’t know many people who represent that idea more than Melinda French Gates."

Zoom In:

Sadly, instead of empowering and supporting women as mothers, both Rodrigo and Gates instead use their positions to advocate for abortion, insinuating that women need the ability to kill their children in order to be successful.

Rodrigo previously launched a pro-abortion fund, to which she gave $2 million from her Guts World Tour proceeds. Among those recipients was the National Network of Abortion Funds. In 2024, she allowed her concerts, which are heavily attended by young girls, to distribute information about emergency contraception and how to get abortions.

Rodrigo was also the 2025 recipient of the Catalyst for Change award from Planned Parenthood of Greater New York, where she insinuated that women cannot be successful without the legal ability to abort their preborn children.

Melinda French Gates (along with the Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation) has poured money into pro-abortion organizations for years. As Live Action News previously reported:

[Melinda] Gates has spent over $1 billion promoting abortion — not merely contraception — around the world, including the Center for Reproductive Rights, an abortion organization. Her foundation has paid journalists to promote abortion, has donated to the United Nations Population Fund (UNFPA) — which was known to be behind China’s coercive One Child Policy, which involved forced abortions — and has given tens of millions of dollars to Planned Parenthood, America’s top abortion provider.

Reality Check:

Numerous times, Rodrigo promoted the Daisy Chain Fields Festival as an "inclusive' event, free of violence and discrimination." Ironically, in openly advocating for abortion, she is excluding and promoting violence against the most vulnerable members of the human race: those whose lives have already begun in the wombs of their mothers.

Abortion kills the child who is growing in his mother’s womb through depriving him or her of vital nutrients, through dismemberment, or by lethal injection. Former abortionists have described these brutal processes in the video below:

Abortion is never empowering. It is a horrific process that ends a life.

The Bottom Line:

Funneling millions of dollars into organizations that promote and support the killing of preborn children is not pro-woman. Our children are not our enemies, and their deaths are never something to be celebrated.
