Billboard in Times Square tells NYC why it’s time to ‘Defund Planned Parenthood’
On Wednesday evening, a new billboard appeared in Times Square for one hour, urging New Yorkers to support the defunding of Planned Parenthood. Although there are multiple reasons why Planned Parenthood deserves to be defunded, the billboard highlighted two main reasons that America’s biggest abortion business should lose the $700 million it receives from federal tax dollars each year.
The billboard directed viewers to DefundPP.com and focused on the fact that, according to Planned Parenthood’s 2022-2023 annual report, Planned Parenthood kills 1,076 preborn children every day in the United States through various methods of abortion that may include the abortion pill, D&C suction abortion, D&E dismemberment abortion, or induction abortion using a feticide to cause cardiac arrest. This equates to nearly 45 children every hour, and one every 80 seconds. According to that report, Planned Parenthood commits 40% of all abortions in the U.S.

The billboard also featured clips from Live Action’s “Baby Olivia” video, featuring world-class animation that highlights life inside the womb from fertilization through birth.
Also featured on the billboard was information regarding Planned Parenthood’s distribution of “gender-affirming care” — in some cases, even to minors. A new Review of Evidence and Best Practices from the Department of Health and Human Services (HHS) on “Treatment for Pediatric Gender Dysphoria” revealed that Planned Parenthood is a “leading provider” of cross-sex hormones for young people.

The Review found that there is a lack of evidence regarding the psychological effects of “gender-affirming care,” whether beneficial or harmful. However, it noted that the physical risks are known. “The risks of pediatric medical transition include infertility/sterility, sexual dysfunction, impaired bone density accrual, adverse cognitive impacts, cardiovascular disease and metabolic disorders, psychiatric disorders, surgical complications, and regret,” states the Review.
A 2024 investigative report published by The Free Press stated that certain data reveals that about 40% of the patients who received hormones from Planned Parenthood in 2023 were between the ages of 18 and 22, with some beginning hormones at age 16. Planned Parenthood has been known to prescribe cross-sex hormones during a patient’s first appointment.
