Until It Ends: Take the 40-day pledge to end abortion

Live Action is calling on pro-life individuals to join a 40-day campaign on each anniversary of Dobbs v. Jackson Women's Health Organization — which reversed Roe v. Wade committing to sacrifice, prayer, and action... until legalized abortion ends.

Key Takeaways:

  • On June 24, 2022, the U.S. Supreme Court handed down the Dobbs decision, overturning Roe v. Wade.

  • Live Action has launched an annual 40-day campaign which will begin each year on the anniversary of Dobbs.

  • Participants sign a pledge and commit to prayer for the 40 days from June 24-August 2, along with one sacrifice and one concrete act of service.

The Details:

Individuals are invited to join the Until It Ends campaign, which runs from June 24-August 2. The 40-day campaign consists of prayer, sacrifice, and service, with the goal of advocating for the lives of our preborn brothers and sisters.

Participants commit to pray each day for an end to legalized abortion, and to choose one thing to sacrifice. As the website explains:

Never miss the latest news in the fight for life.

You choose one daily enjoyment to surrender for the full 40 days. Pick something that costs you. Something you will notice. Examples include coffee, ice cream, alcohol, social media, streaming services, fast food, or video games.

Additionally, pro-lifers commit to service through the campaign, with suggestions including:

  • Weekly volunteering at a pro-life pregnancy resource center

  • Sidewalk outreach outside abortion facilities

  • Peaceful public witness and local protesting

  • A weekly donation, matched by the cost of what you gave up

  • Hosting a small group gathering to recruit others into the pledge

The pledge states:

I pledge that each year, for 40 days after the Dobbs anniversary through the end of July, I will give up __________ as a personal reflection to remind me of the urgency to work towards the end of abortion. I will pair my sacrifice with action by committing to __________. I will repeat this pledge every year until abortion ends.

The Pledge

Why It Matters:

While Roe has fallen, abortion is legal in multiple states, and mail-order abortion pills have meant that the number of abortions being committed across the United States is rising.

Yet the Dobbs decision has led many Americans to believe the fight to save lives is behind them.

The "Until It Ends" campaign looks to the Dobbs anniversary as a sign of what is possible, while also looking ahead in the fight:

Abortion has endured because it has been normalized, funded, and defended with relentless discipline. We will end it with greater discipline. When thousands of people choose a real cost and pair it with prayer and action, we can experience revival and victory.

The Bottom Line:

Sign the pledge to join the "Until It Ends" campaign today, and invite your family and friends to participate as well. We look forward to the day when legalized abortion ends, once and for all.
