Singer Zara Larsson shocks internet by making light of fan's abortion
A fan of singer-songwriter Zara Larsson recently posted a TikTok video of one of Larsson's performances, announcing she had an abortion shortly after she witnessed it — but it was Larsson's comments in response that seem to have shocked the internet.
A fan posted a video to TikTok of Larsson performing on stage and captioned it to say, "i didn't know i was pregnant here but at least my baby got to hear midnight sun before i aborted it."
Larsson commented on the video: "I killed the performance and then you killed it after the performance purrrrrr."
The tactless comments caused a stir on the internet, with many people joining in, making light of the death of an innocent human being.
Larsson later doubled down on her comment, calling it "funny."
The video, which has over one million likes, shows Larsson performing her song Midnight Sun with dancers surrounding her. Posted by honeyhazelwood, the caption states, "i didn't know i was pregnant here but at least my baby got to hear midnight sun before i aborted it." It was also captioned, "a never ending midnight baby."
That alone is a shocking and tactless sentence that can cause deep pain for women who have lost babies to miscarriage or abortion and suffer with grief. The casual attitude of a woman who has aborted her baby while seemingly understanding that this was, in fact, her child whom she killed is disheartening and tragic.
But then Larsson herself commented on the video, saying, "I killed the performance and then you killed it after the performance purrrrrr." That comment garnered 127,000 likes and was joined by other insipid comments like:
"saw heaven twice"
"it was to die for"
"luckiest fetus"
"ending midnight son"
Another said, "this generation is so unserious i love it."
And that could be the main issue here — an entire generation has heard lies about prenatal development and abortion for so long that it honestly doesn't see anything controversial about abortion and doesn't think it's even a 'tough decision.' They are so "unserious" that they don't even care to learn what an abortion really is, and tend to see it as a joke.

In addition, as the Focus on the Family Instagram page i.am.prolife pointed out, Larsson has previously spoken out against the tragedies occurring in Gaza, saying, "I don't want my money to be funding the slaughter of children."
i.am.prolife stated, "The irony is astounding. Let's pray that Zara would come to see the truth about abortion and the humanity of preborn children..."
What Larsson said about children in Gaza is how millions of Americans feel about abortion. They don't want their tax money funding induced abortions (the intentional killing of preborn babies) through programs like Medicaid, nor do they want to pay for organizations that commit them.
In response to the widespread responses to her comment, Larsson doubled down, saying, "Sorry, that’s funny! I don’t know what to say, that’s funny. Sorry if you don’t have humor. But also, I’m not really here to argue with the people who are very against abortions for whatever reason, because we’re so fundamentally different in the way we view the world, at least on this topic. So I'm not trying to convince you abortion is health care.”
She wanted to focus on those who consider themselves "pro-choice" but didn't think her comment was funny. She said that she doesn't understand why people who support abortion only want to see it in a serious light and don't want to joke about it.
She added, "I just want to know why that is. Why do you feel like abortion is only okay when it’s a very hard decision, when it’s something that women have to struggle with going through? When it’s emotionally or physically painful,” Larsson said. “Why is it only okay, why does that make it morally superior than when someone just wants an abortion for whatever reason? Like, why is it only morally okay when women have to suffer? Now riddle me that."
She said that she thinks "we should prevent" abortion and "teach sexual education to children" and she advocated for "free condoms" because "people love sex," "people wanna f***. That's just like human nature. But also that doesn't mean that you have to have a baby because of it."
She argued, "If you are pro-choice, you have to be pro-choice always."
“I feel like joking about stuff like that... makes it something that we can also just talk about,” she added. “It doesn’t have to be taboo, it doesn’t have to be this bad thing that women do, because also, if we speak about it in a casual manner, that also makes the women who go through it, and who are actually suffering through it… There are women that, they want their babies, but they can’t keep them because they might even have symptoms that’ll make it impossible for them to.... I've seen so many cases about this in Texas where the women want their children and they have to do abortions because they will not live outside the womb, and they can't have it because of the f***ing policies around it, so let's just make more jokes." (The women she is referring to in Texas did not need abortions.)
She ended the video with, "Abortion is health care, what can I say? And it's not better because women have to suffer."
Larsson is way off base on a lot of what she said, but she's right about one thing: either you support abortion, or you don't. There is no middle ground. Either there is a human being in the womb, or there isn't, and true science proves that there is. A human embryo and a human fetus are 100% human and 100% a unique person who does not deserve to die because her parents 'wanted to f***' as she so eloquently put it, and not have a baby.
Her "joke" showed that she and other pro-choicers know that human beings are pregnant with human beings who are "killed" by abortion. And her follow-up response showed that either you are in support of the killing or you aren't. Abortion can't be acceptable for one situation, such as rape or fetal diagnosis, and not acceptable for the woman who just wanted to have sex without responsibility.
It's a human being in the womb. And abortion kills that human being. We all know it.
Larsson is from Sweden, where abortion is easily accessible up to 18 weeks and has been for 50 years. Even back in 1939, abortion was legal in the nation.
Generations of children grew up with the normalization of abortion, and these tragic comments may be a result of that casualness about killing innocent children for convenience.
