Another baby was found dead near a dumpster. How many more are never found?
An infant was found dead on Sunday next to a dumpster outside of a motel in Forth Worth, Texas. The identity of the child remains unknown.
While abortion supporters frequently blame pro-life laws for the abandonment of preborn children and infants, death is never an acceptable solution to a crisis situation — and life-affirming options are available.
Another infant has been found dead, this time in a dumpster in Forth Worth, Texas.
The mother has been located and is facing a capital murder charge for drowning her newborn before she and her boyfriend threw the body in a dumpster.
News reports appear to be increasing about babies being found abandoned — both dead and alive — across the country.
Abortion supporters frequently blame pro-life laws for the tragic abandonments and deaths of these children, but they are occurring in both pro-life and pro-abortion states.
On October 18, police were called to Drummer's Inn on West Camp Bowie Boulevard in Forth Worth around 8:55 p.m. for reports of a deceased child in a dumpster. A homeless woman found the baby while searching for items in the dumpster. She told a friend and together they called 911. The baby was taken to a hospital, where she was pronounced dead.
Fort Worth Police Department told CBS News Texas that investigators returned to the motel on Monday to review surveillance video. Fox 4 News reported that on October 19, police were called to carry out a welfare check on Avia Cantrell, 23, at the request of her sister-in-law, who told police that Cantrell was pregnant and due soon. She also told police that Cantrell has a history of having a baby that no one knew about. Police contracted Cantrell at the motel where she had been living for two years with her boyfriend, 26-year-old Camron Baker and three other children. They said she "seemed nervous when speaking with" police and denied being pregnant.
Surveillance footage fromJune showed Cantrell appearing pregnant and additional footage showed Cantrell going to the dumpster with a box of items, including a car seat.
Eventually, Cantrell admitted to police that she gave birth to a full term baby girl at the motel on October 14 while in a full bathtub. The baby was moving, but Cantrell said she left the baby face-down in the water for about 30 minutes. She then said when the baby's feet were white and she believed the baby had died, she covered her up and put her inside a gab that matched the description of the bag found by the homeless woman. According to police, she then called Baker at his job and told him she gave birth and the baby was gone.
She and Baker told police that they didn't call for help because they did not want to "catch a case." They kept the baby's body in that bag in their motel room for four days. Then they put the baby in the dumpster.
According to reports, Cantrell told police that this had happened before, claiming she had thrown away another baby whom she had miscarried.
Cantrell is charged with capital murder and Baker is facing the charge of abuse of corpse. They are both in custody at this time.
Just in the past week, at least two more infants have been found dead. One was found in a park in Austin, Texas and the other at a recycling center in Utica, New York. Such cases appear to be on the rise, and abortion supporters have been quick to blame pro-life laws.
However, the very fact that these infant deaths and abandonments are occurring in both pro-abortion and pro-life states indicates that this isn't an issue of whether or not a state allows abortion.
The issue lies in society's view that certain persons are not human beings based on whether or not their mother wants them, whether their mother believes her child is a human being or not, whether the baby can 'survive on his/her own', and whether he or she is considered "healthy."
Given those parameters, we shouldn't be shocked when a mother gives birth in a parking lot or in a motel, scoops the baby up with trash bags, and drops him in a dumpster — as was seen on security camera video footage from Texas in 2024.
There must be a serious disconnect. If she's been told that her child's worth is determined by her own opinion of him, then if she doesn't want to see his humanity and value, she won't.
There are likely many factors that have led to more infant abandonments in Texas (and elsewhere) — maternity care deserts, high population of uninsured women and non-citizens, and a lack of education on Safe Haven locations. Regardless of the legality of abortion in Texas, there are far more abortions taking place in the state than infant abandonments.
In fact, abortion itself, unregulated and via the abortion pill, could be helping to increase the number of bodies found in dumpsters, toilets, recycling plants, and other locations.
In 2024, at least 18 babies were known to have been abandoned in Texas. That same year, there were 78 reported abortions in the state and a reported 7,000 to 28,000 women who left Texas for abortions or who accessed the abortion pill through telehealth. Each one of those babies is dead; we just haven't seen their bodies. And Americans like to pretend those bodies don't exist.
But they do. And they are often found in dumpsters too.
Aborted babies are dumped into sewers, stored in freezers, incinerated and burned, kept as trophies by abortionists, and thrown into dumpsters. Yet the masses aren't crying out in horror or blaming anyone for these tragedies.

A Michigan abortion facility was once caught throwing the bodies of preborn children into dumpsters; another Michigan facility near Detroit was also found with the bodies of aborted babies in its dumpster. Multiple abortion facilities, including Planned Parenthood, were fined over $50,000 after they dumped the bodies of aborted children at landfills. Pro-lifers have testified about finding bodies in dumpsters behind abortion facilities.
Despite what people imagine, these aren't 'pregnancy tissue;' they are human beings. In the book "Pro-Life Feminism: Different Voices," former abortion worker Paula Sutcliffe shared:
I saw the bits of feet, bits of hands, the mangled heads and bodies of the little people. I saw pain and felt pain.
In addition, an article in the American Medical News quotes a doctor who witnessed an abortion:
You can tell by the contours on their faces that that aborted fetuses feel pain, said obstetrician Matthew Bulfin, M.D…. He described a case of a 25-year-old woman administered a prostaglandin abortion, who expelled her fetus in the middle of the night.
Before hospital nurses arrived, she witnessed “thrashing around and gruesome trauma on his face, and knew that the fetus had suffered.”
In 2022, pro-life activists opened a medical waste bin from Washington Surgi-Clinic and discovered the remains of 110 aborted babies, including five whom experts have stated were likely old enough to have survived outside the womb. But the media and authorities went after the people who found the babies instead of the people who paid for and carried out their executions.

The person who killed these babies was never investigated for potentially carrying out illegal abortions. It was business as usual. These babies were treated with the same disregard and callousness as the babies who were killed and put in dumpsters after they were born, but most people didn't bat an eye.
Babies who are killed before birth and put in dumpsters are just as worthy to be mourned as the babies who were killed after they were born and then abandoned or left in dumpsters.
And they all deserve justice.
