Massachusetts colleges partner with Planned Parenthood for ‘abortion readiness’

A law requiring public college campuses to dispense abortion pills in Massachusetts has taken effect, with Planned Parenthood stepping in to partner with several universities.

The College Fix reported that Ann Scales, a spokeswoman for the Massachusetts Department of Public Health, confirmed that all 29 public institutions have sent in their “abortion readiness” plans as required by law. Last November, Governor Maura Healey’s administration created an abortion “toolkit” with help from Reproductive Equity Now.

Planned Parenthood is specifically mentioned in the legislation as an organization to partner with in implementing the law. Several schools — Fitchburg State University and Holyoke Community College — have confirmed that they are working with Planned Parenthood in some capacity.

“Not only do these drugs kill a preborn child, but due to their extensive negative ramifications, they also jeopardize female students’ health, safety, and fertility,” Megan Cawley, a Students For Life of America regional coordinator for the New England region, told the College Fix. “College campuses, and the state as a whole, should be doing more for young women, not less. These new ‘abortion readiness plans’ are clearly showing that the abortion lobby isn’t really interested in women’s wellbeing. They’re just interested in abortion.”

Massachusetts is one of several states that, following the fall of Roe v. Wade, has embraced pro-abortion extremism. The state created a pro-abortion hotline last year. Previously, abortion was codified into state law by then-Governor Charlie Baker, specifically as a response to Roe‘s being overturned. Abortion advocacy groups have also merged and mobilized in an effort to make Massachusetts an “abortion haven,” along with other states in the New England area.

Additionally, pregnancy resource centers (PRCs) have come under attack in the state, despite these charitable organizations’ help for women and families who don’t want abortion. At least one city has tried to force PRCs to provide referrals for abortion, while the state House approved a $1 million smear campaign against PRCs. The attorney general likewise has tried to keep women from going to PRCs, because evidently, Massachusetts politicians are only interested in helping women kill their babies — not keep them.
