Planned Parenthood CEO ‘over the moon’ to expand abortion with VP Harris

Kamala Harris, Planned Parenthood,

In an interview with Business Insider, Planned Parenthood CEO Alexis McGill Johnson confessed that she is “completely over the moon” that the abortion industry has a strong advocate in the new vice president, Kamala Harris.

“I’m completely over the moon and so excited to support her leadership and support their vision for how we transform healthcare, as well as sexual reproductive healthcare,” Johnson said, noting that Harris “has really demonstrated her facility of understanding our issues […]”

Vice President Harris supports directing more federal funding toward abortion businesses like Planned Parenthood. Among the “issues” that Planned Parenthood is facing is a decades-long national decline in abortion rates. Yet, even as numbers declined nationally, Planned Parenthood’s abortion numbers increased as it captured more of the US abortion market share. The Biden/Harris administration will be a helping hand to Planned Parenthood’s profitability.

Champion of the abortion industry

“Harris is considered a champion of the abortion industry,” wrote Matt Hadro for the Catholic News Agency. “When the Biden campaign announced her inclusion on the ticket in August, Planned Parenthood Action spent five figures on an online video ad promoting Harris.” He added that several of Harris’s 2016 senate campaign donors were executives at pro-abortion organizations and Harris later grilled judicial nominees on abortion as a Senator.

Planned Parenthood connections… and conflicts of interest

Harris has received campaign donations from the abortion industry, most notably from Planned Parenthood. Financial campaign contributions from pro-abortion groups to Harris total at least $81,215. Those donors include five California Planned Parenthood affiliates who were implicated in the Center for Medical Progress’s (CMP) undercover investigation of the sale of aborted fetal body parts.

It was, therefore, a massive conflict of interest when Harris chose not to investigate Planned Parenthood for potentially violating federal law by selling human body parts, and instead targeted the undercover journalists who exposed Planned Parenthood’s practices. In 2016, as California’s attorney general, Harris ordered state agents to raid the apartment of CMP founder David Daleiden and seize any evidence connected to his undercover investigation of Planned Parenthood, including laptops and hard drives that contained video footage. Even Politifact noted the conflict of interest:

Planned Parenthood’s political arm recently spotlighted Harris ‘as a defender of reproductive rights and health care.’ She has received tens of thousands of dollars in campaign finance contributions from Planned Parenthood affiliated groups, including $15,000 during her 2014 campaign for re-election as attorney general, according to the California Secretary of State’s website.

In 2017, 15 criminal counts were brought against Daleiden and his colleague Sandra Merritt, many of which were later dropped.

Collaborating with Planned Parenthood on legislation

Emails obtained by the Washington Times showed that Harris worked with Planned Parenthood to create legislation that would target Daleiden and any other undercover journalists who attempted to catch Planned Parenthood in its illegal activities.

“Attached is the language for AB 1671, proposed amendments to Penal Code section 632,” Planned Parenthood Affiliates of California chief legal counsel Beth Parker wrote in an email to Jill Habig, a special counsel to Attorney General Harris. “I look forward to your thoughts about this.”

AB 1671 was dubbed the “Planned Parenthood bill” and stipulated prosecution for undercover journalists who publish or distribute recordings of private communications with a “health care provider” — a new crime. Courthouse News Services reported that the bill did not contain an exemption for whistleblowers. CMP’s released recordings all took place in public locations where conversations could be potentially overheard.

The future of the Planned Parenthood/Harris team

Johnson said she expects the Biden administration to push “bold agenda items.” Biden has already followed through on some of those items, including reversing the Title X rule that prohibited federal family planning funding from being given to organizations that commit or refer for abortions. Johnson wants more, and expects the new administration to increase Title X funding for Planned Parenthood, according to Breitbart.

Planned Parenthood is expected to be “advising” the Biden administration “on executive orders, policies, and on vocally supporting nominees and appointments.”

In addition to restoring $60 million in Title X funding to Planned Parenthood, Biden has also announced the United States will again fund overseas abortion through organizations including Planned Parenthood International and has vowed to end the Hyde Amendment and allow the U.S. government to use taxpayer dollars to pay for the abortions of low-income women. The Hyde Amendment saves an estimated 60,000 lives each year from abortion. If it ends, that’s a potential 60,000+ more abortions up for grabs that can bring millions of dollars to Planned Parenthood.

Planned Parenthood demanded “day one” action from Biden after his inauguration, and with Harris by its side, those demands are already being fulfilled and millions of dollars have been handed to Planned Parenthood, which commits 40% of the nation’s abortions. The partnership of Planned Parenthood and Harris isn’t likely to stop, and the goal is Roe v. Wade is codified into law and legal abortion on-demand, up to birth, and fully funded.
