Calls to pregnancy support helpline broke records in 2025
The pro-life organization Heartbeat International announced that a record-breaking 1.3 million calls came in to its pregnancy support helpline, Option Line, in 2025.
Heartbeat International's Option Line surpassed more than 1.3 million calls for pregnancy help in 2025, setting a record for the organization.
More than 90% of those who call Option Line are at risk for abortion.
The organization recently launched a High Risk Response Network, which leverages Option Line's network of local pregnancy help centers to provide telecare consultations.
Heartbeat International announced last week that its 24/7 helpline, Option Line, surpassed more than 1.3 million calls in 2025. This is more than triple the number of calls it received in 2024, and it's the highest annual call total in the helpline's history.
According to the organization's press release, Option Line is a confidential, around-the-clock helpline for individuals and couples seeking pregnancy help or who are seeking abortion. The professionally trained staff provides consultations to callers and connects them to local pregnancy help organizations as well. The staff also offers "compassionate listening [and] accurate information" to the more than 3,700 callers they speak with each day — including nights, weekends, and holidays.
Nafisa Kennedy, Director of Option Line, told Live Action News:
"More than 90% of Option Line connects for pregnancy help are at risk for abortion, and tens of thousands among those specifically seek abortion/abortion referrals. We also frequently connect with women who have already obtained abortion pills by mail; with little information or guidance from the provider of those pills, they often call to ask questions before taking these drugs. We are grateful to have every opportunity to speak hope and life to these callers!"
The organization recently launched a High Risk Response Network, which leverages Option Line's network of local pregnancy help centers to provide telecare consultations for callers who call the hotline after hours. Option Line has a 70-75% show rate for scheduled pregnancy help appointments and about a 90% show rate for virtual consultation appointments, according to Kennedy.
A report released in November 2025 by the Charlotte Lozier Institute (CLI) — a partnership between CLI, Care Net, Heartbeat International, National Institute of Family and Life Advocates (NIFLA), and Focus on the Family Option Ultrasound Program — noted the impact of pregnancy help centers in 2024, which was also record-setting.
According to that report, 1,012,976 new clients were seen by pregnancy centers in 2024, providing "$452 million in total medical care, support and education services, and material goods," as Live Action News previously reported.
These centers, while largely staffed by volunteers, had more than 18,000 paid staff in 2024, with 28% of those being licensed medical staff. Of the more than 47,000 volunteers that year, 12% of them were licensed medical volunteers. These two groups totaled more than 10,000 medical professionals.
Of the 2,775 help centers:
92% provided material items
85% provided prenatal and parenting education programs
81% provided ultrasounds
77% provided post-abortion recovery services
Pregnancy centers are providing valuable services to families in communities across the country.
"Pregnancy doesn't take a holiday or the night off, and neither do we," said Jor-El Godsey, president of Heartbeat International. "This amazing milestone reflects the growing trust people place in Option Line and the unwavering commitment of pregnancy help organizations to meet women and families with compassion, dignity, and hope.”
