Woman intentionally hit pro-life activist with her SUV at Planned Parenthood

A woman is reported to have intentionally struck a man with her SUV in Washington after becoming angry over his pro-life activism.

Key Takeaways:

  • Sierra Godfrey has been arrested on charges of second-degree assault and hit-and-run.

  • After seeing three pro-life men outside a Planned Parenthood facility in Kennewick, Washington, Godfrey pulled into the parking lot, began arguing with the men, and then shoved one of them.

  • She then got into her SUV and intentionally hit one of them.

  • Godfrey has allegedly admitted to hitting the man and driving away.

The Details:

According to the Tri-City Herald, Godfrey saw three pro-life activists outside the Planned Parenthood facility in Kennewick, Washington, and became enraged. A witness said Godfrey pulled into the parking lot and began arguing with the three men before walking back to her SUV. One of the men followed her, and Godfrey shoved him before getting back in the vehicle. The other two pro-life men said they “were respectful and calm throughout the verbal argument between Sierra and the protesters."

She then drove towards the exit of the parking lot, where two different pro-life activists were standing, with whom she had not interacted. Yet she still intentionally struck one of them with her SUV and drove away.

Godfrey was booked into the Benton County jail on Sunday on suspicion of second-degree assault and hit-and-run, and on Monday, appeared in court by video. Prosecutors asked for just $10,000 in bail, but Judge David Peterson rejected that, saying the amount was too low. Peterson noted that if the situation were reversed, the bail amount would be higher, and he set it at $20,000 instead.

Godfrey is currently out on bond.

Why It Matters:

Pro-abortion violence has been downplayed by the government and the media alike, though it has markedly increased since Roe v. Wade was overturned by the Supreme Court in Dobbs v. Jackson Women's Health Organization. The most notable example is an assassination attempt against Supreme Court Justice Brett Kavanaugh, with his would-be murderer sentenced to just eight years in prison.

FBI director: 70% of abortion-related threats and violence are against pro-lifers

Prior to the Dobbs opinion, the pro-abortion group “Jane’s Revenge” threatened a “Night of Rage” if Roe was overturned. After the Supreme Court decision, Jane’s Revenge followed through with their threat, with attacks on pregnancy centers, pro-life offices, and churches.

Another pro-abortion group, “Ruth Sent Us,” doxxed pro-life Supreme Court justices and organized protests in front of their homes. They also threatened two of the justices’ children, giving explicit directions on how to get to the school Amy Coney Barrett’s children attended, and encouraged people to protest there. They also targeted Justice Brett Kavanaugh’s wife, Ashley, with a tweet that included a picture taken outside her children’s school.

FBI Director Christopher Wray also confirmed in testimony before Congress that the vast majority of abortion-related violence since 2022 has been directed towards the pro-life movement, instead of abortionists or abortion supporters.

The Bottom Line:

Pro-abortion violence is not a myth, though abortion supports often claim it is. And though most abortion-related violence is directed towards pro-lifers, it is still the pro-life movement depicted as violent in pop culture.
