Unborn children of Peace Corps members in jeopardy thanks to new abortion funding
Planned Parenthood and the abortion lobby have long rallied for U.S. Peace Corps members to have abortion coverage footed by federal tax funding. According to The Hill, efforts by Nita Lowey (D-N.Y.) and Jeanne Shaheen (D-N.H.) have granted their wish through the Appropriations bill:
Though it was best known for preventing a government shutdown, the Appropriations bill also contained provisions that will ensure for the first time that Peace Corps volunteers have access to abortion in cases of rape, incest, or to protect the life of the woman.
Planned Parenthood has also lavished Frank Lautenberg (D-N.J.) with kudos for his role in rescinding protections from the pre-born children of Peace Corps members.
As we reported in in April, 2013, the crusade for taxpayer-funded abortion procedures in the Peace Corps (vociferously supported by Planned Parenthood and its ilk) was overkill (literally and figuratively speaking):
In fact, the Peace Corps not only pays for transportation to and from the location in which a volunteer may obtain a legal abortion while she is working for the organization, but they also provide guidance on how she can confidentially use her own Peace Corps funds to pay for the procedure. The Corps also pays for complications that may (and often do) result from the abortion. It simply does not pay for the abortion itself.
Nevertheless, abortion proponents pushed until they got what they wanted.
