Think abortion is funny? These folks do

What’s your idea of a good time? Going to the beach? Hitting the gym? How about watching calves get tortured to death? If not, then there’s a video you probably won’t like.

Released by a Spanish animal rights group, it was shot at a bullfighting ring near Madrid. Instead of a bull, the footage shows two calves being stabbed repeatedly while they stagger around the ring. One suffers a punctured lung as it begins coughing up blood. Spectators can be heard applauding.

The video has provoked outrage, and it’s not hard to see why. I’m a lifelong hunter, and I found the images disturbing. Of course, I also know that baby cows aren’t the only ones who get legally tortured–so do baby humans. Some people cheer for that too.

After conception, children develop fast. There’s a heartbeat within a month, fingers at eight weeks and fingerprints at ten. Research indicates they can feel pain at twenty. Dr. Anthony Levatino is an obstetrician-gynecologist who’s performed over 1,200 abortions, and in the video below, he explains how they’re done at twenty weeks.

After the amniotic fluid is removed, the abortionist uses a sopher clamp — a grasping instrument with rows of sharp “teeth” — to grasp and pull the baby’s arms and legs, tearing the limbs from the child’s body.

The abortionist continues to grasp intestines, spine, heart, lungs, and any other limbs or body parts. The most difficult part of the procedure is usually finding, grasping and crushing the baby’s head.

After removing pieces of the child’s skull, the abortionist uses a curette to scrape the uterus and remove the placenta and any remaining parts of the baby.

You might have heard that late-term abortions are only done out of medical necessity. They’re not. It certainly wasn’t why Gary Cross had Planned Parenthood arrange one for his 13-year-old stepdaughter. He had gotten her pregnant, and the abortion allowed his abuse to stay hidden.

Most people don’t find this subject uplifting; the organizers at All Access aren’t most people. They’ve organized pro-abortion concerts in thirty cities. In addition to music, the events will feature segments like, “So I had an abortion,” a routine that promises to “make you laugh and cry.”

If dismemberment doesn’t put you in the mood for “a night of music and dance,” then here’s another suggestion: demand legislation to protect pain-capable children.

After that, tell Congress you want Planned Parenthood’s half billion in funding sent to federally qualified health centers (FQHCs) and community health centers (CHCs) instead. FQHCs and CHCs offer affordable care to those in need. What don’t they do? Dismember children or protect abusers.

I really don’t know why the thought of abortion would make anyone chuckle. Here’s what I do know: it should push the rest of us to action.
