Pro-life female OB/GYNs: Helping women to embrace life and healing

pro-life

While most OB/GYNs don’t commit abortions, some families have been on the receiving end of pressure from OB/GYNs and other medical professionals to abort their babies following a prenatal diagnosis, making them complicit in the baby’s death and the trauma the parents will endure. Because of this, pro-life women and couples often struggle to find a pro-life OB/GYN, but thankfully, they do exist — and many of them are women. March is Women’s History Month, and these women — along with many others — are working on the right side of history to protect the lives of pregnant women and human beings inside the womb.

Dr. Christina Francis, MD

Dr. Christina Francis, MD is the Chairman of the Board for the American Association of Pro-Life Obstetricians and Gynecologists (AAPLOG), an organization of pro-life board-certified doctors who are committed to protecting preborn children and the lives of pregnant women as well. Dr. Francis works in Fort Wayne, Indiana, as an OB/GYN hospitalist, according to the AAPLOG website.  She spent three years as the only OB/GYN at a mission hospital in Kenya, and is now an associate scholar with the Charlotte Lozier Institute and board member of Indiana Right to Life. She also helps women reverse the effects of the abortion pill and save their babies’ lives.

“I think I feel a tide of change coming in the country when it comes to the abortion issue,” she told Live Action News in 2021. “And this made me hopeful for that same tide of change to go through the medical profession, so that we can return to healing, rather than killing. We need to return to Hippocratic medicine once and for all.”

Dr. Anthereca E. Lane, MD

Dr. Anthereca E. Lane is a board-certified OB/GYN practicing in Cincinnati, Ohio, as the owner of Lane Women’s Health, an independent, private medical practice. She also owns Lane Women’s Health on Demand, a telehealth company. She was the first African-American co-owner of Fairhaven Obstetrics & Gynecology in Goshen, Indiana, where she practiced for more than seven years. She is a member of AAPLOG, which says Dr. Lane is “committed to reducing the number of abortions in the African American community.”

Dr. Christina Cirucci, MD

Dr. Christina Cirucci is a board-certified OB/GYN who works within hospitals in Pennsylvania, following 20 years of working in private practice. In the past, Dr. Cirucci has volunteered in developing nations in both Africa and Asia as well as at a hospital in Bangladesh. She is a newer member of AAPLOG, having joined in 2021, and works to educate women on the dangers of the abortion pill.

Dr. Monique Ruberu, MD

Dr. Monique Ruberu is a NaPro Technology-trained OB/GYN. NaPro Technology is a breakthrough in women’s reproductive and gynecological health, offering real help for infertility, repeat miscarriage, polycystic ovarian disease, and other gynecological concerns. Dr. Ruberu is dedicated to the pro-life cause, working as a 40 Days for Life campaign leader and a public speaker. She knows the horror of abortion because she works with women who have gone through them.

“As an OB/GYN physician, I see women touched by abortion on a daily basis,” Dr. Ruberu said at the Pro-Life Rally in Philadelphia in 2019. “Ninety percent of these women have suffered emotional trauma that persists for a lifetime. Some suffer with infertility, issues, preterm delivery, others medicate their pain with alcohol, drugs, unstable relationships.”

Each of these women is dedicated to providing quality health care to both women and their preborn babies. As pro-life female doctors, they are proving that being a woman or a doctor does not go hand-in-hand with supporting abortion and are helping to save babies and convert others to the pro-life cause. To find a pro-life OB/GYN in your area, you can access the search function on the AAPLOG website.
