Pro-abortion protests turn violent in Los Angeles

pro-abortion, Los Angele

Pro-abortion activists became violent yesterday in Los Angeles as they protested the U.S. Supreme Court’s leaked draft opinion that signals it may overturn Roe v. Wade this June. One police officer was injured in the attacks.

According to the Associated Press, authorities said a small crowd of 30 grew to about 250 people who marched in support of abortion in a peaceful manner until some of the activists began throwing rocks and bottles at police. Additional police were called in, and a citywide police tactical alert was declared for the area near Pershing Square downtown.

Online photos and videos showed that officers were mostly keeping an eye on the crowd when the violence began, according to Fox News. “We attempted to communicate, clear, and provide dispersal order to the group,” said Los Angeles Police Department Chief Michael Moore. But the “crowd began to throw rocks and bottles at officers.”

There have been no reports of any arrests connected to the violence and the crowd is said to have mostly dispersed once additional police arrived at the scene.

Additional protests took place in cities across the country, including in Washington, D.C., where pro-abortion protesters gathered outside the Supreme Court building. In Manhattan, New York State Attorney General Letitia James announced that 20 years ago she “walked proudly into Planned Parenthood” and killed her preborn baby. In LA, they chanted, “No more shame, no more silence. Forced motherhood is fascist violence.”

However, abortion is not a right, and it is violence against an innocent human being. The abortion pill starves the growing child will a first-trimester surgical abortion suctions the child to pieces. A second-trimester D&E abortion dismembers undelivered babies who are capable of feeling pain and some of whom are capable of surviving outside the womb. A third-trimester induction abortion uses feticide to cause the preborn baby to go into cardiac arrest.

Every human deserves the right to life and the right to natural death in addition to protection from violence and harm. Overturning Roe v. Wade is just one step toward restoring the right to life to all human beings in the United States.
