Pope Francis: Abortion sacrifices children on the ‘altar of profit’
Pope Francis, a longtime advocate for the dignity of all life, has once again spoken out against abortion.
In a new tweet, the pope condemned the culture of death as being driven solely by money. “Each day children, born and unborn, migrants and elderly persons, are discarded,” he said. “Many brothers and sisters die sacrificed on the altar of profit, amid indifference. Yet every human being is sacred. It is the task of religions to remind the world of this!”
The warning comes on the heels of the latest annual report from Planned Parenthood, the nation’s largest abortion chain. As in years past, Planned Parenthood recorded an increase in the number of abortions it committed — all while its legitimate health care services plummeted.

Meanwhile, Planned Parenthood ends hundreds of thousands of lives each year and is swimming in money. It received $633.4 million in taxpayer dollars while enjoying $133.7 million in excess revenue over its expenses. Since the year 2000, it has received $9.3 billion in taxpayer dollars. In the same time period, it recorded over $1.7 billion in excess revenue over expenses. In 2020-2021, its net assets reached $2.5 billion, a 239% increase since 2000.
But how much is Planned Parenthood receiving for committing abortions? According to its website, “an abortion can cost up to $750, but it’s often less.” Even assuming they are charging women much less for abortions — say, $250 — at 383,460 abortions committed in the year 2020, that nets them a whopping $95,865,000.
Sacrificing children at the altar of profit, indeed.
Pope Francis has never minced words on the topic of abortion, repeatedly condemning it. Last year, for example, he did not hesitate to make it clear during an interview that abortion is murder, every time it is committed. “Abortion is more than a problem. Abortion is homicide. Abortion… without being ambiguous: whoever has an abortion kills,” he said, and added, “It is a human life, period. And this human life must be respected. This principle is so clear, and to those who cannot understand, I would ask two questions: is it right to kill a human life to solve a problem? Scientifically, it is a human life. The second question: is it right to hire a hitman to solve a problem?”
