·Planned Parenthood sues Alabama over termination of Medicaid contract
Alabama Governor Robert Bentley terminated the state’s Medicaid contracts with Planned Parenthood on August 6. Today, Planned Parenthood Southeast filed suit against the governor, seeking for funding be restored because they believe Bentley’s “decision to to cancel Medicaid contracts with the organization violated federal law,” reports the Montgomery Advertiser.
Planned Parenthood also announced this week that it is suing the state of Louisiana for terminating its Medicaid contract with the abortion giant following videos from The Center for Medical Progress implicating several Planned Parenthood affiliates in the illegal trafficking of fetal body parts.
Following Planned Parenthood’s paid analysis of the Center for Medical Progress’s videos – which PP alleges contain “substantive omissions” – the group has insisted that the videos cannot “[be held] up as evidence in a court of law.” David Daleiden from CMP responded, stating that even PP’s analysts admitted that they could find “no evidence of audio manipulation” and that the “substantive omissions” are in reality nothing more than “bathroom breaks and waiting periods between meetings.” This, Daleiden says, “does not change the hours of dialogue with top-level Planned Parenthood executives.”
Planned Parenthood Southeast claims that Gov. Bentley “is trying to dictate where a woman can go for contraception and other preventive care if she’s enrolled in Medicaid,” and that “restricting access to providers will do nothing to help the urgent problems we face.” But recent reports have shown that there are only two Planned Parenthood locations in Alabama, compared to 234 health clinics in the state, able to provide comprehensive care to low-income individuals:
Nationwide, Planned Parenthood has 665 facilities, while there are 13,540 comprehensive health clinics able to provide holistic care for patients – without the scandals involving the trafficking of fetal body parts, and without abortion.
