Kuwait arrests Turkish national trafficking 'abortion pills'
Kuwait's General Department of Criminal Investigation has arrested a Turkish national who was allegedly in possession of 105 "abortion pills" that he intended to sell in Kuwait.
Authorities in Kuwait have arrested a Turkish national who was in possession of "abortion pills," though the name of the drugs are unspecified.
The unnamed suspect had seven of the drugs in his possession and 98 more were later found at his residence.
He admitted after his arrest to entering Kuwait on a monthly basis and bringing 56 "abortion pills" each time with the intention to sell them.
Black market abortion drug sales are a growing problem, even in the U.S.
According to the Ministry of Interior, Kuwait authorities learned that the suspect had been involved in selling and distributing abortion drugs. They located seven pills in his immediate possession and another 98 pills at his residence. The pills were valued at KD 1,040 (US $3,346).
He confessed that he had been visiting Kuwait on a monthly basis on a tourist visa and on each visit, he brought 56 pills with him. He planned to sell them in Kuwait.
According to reports, the unnamed suspect and the drugs were referred to the proper authorities for legal proceedings to be carried out.
Abortion drugs are being trafficked around the nation, even into the United States, via online sales. A fact sheet published by Charlotte Lozier Institute research organization found that “72 unique websites” are selling the drugs online.
Online abortion pill distributor Aid Access was likely shipping abortion pills into the United Stated through India without Food and Drug Administration (FDA) approval. In March of 2019, the FDA sent a warning letter to AidAccess.org to cease shipments of the pills to the U.S.
In addition, a 2025 investigation from The Sun found that a black market abortion pill ring is flourishing in the United Kingdom (UK). International sellers are targeting women on social media platforms like Facebook.
Numerous online abortion pill chains source their pills from shoddy factories in India and China through doctors who prescribe pills to women they have never met and have never examined. The pills are manufactured in India and then shipped to the customers.
There is no assurance that there are no contraindications or that the pills are actually being ordered by the abortion-seeking women themselves.

“The key danger with so-called ‘black market’ abortion pills is that they are often used without medical supervision, at incorrect doses, or well beyond the recommended time frame,” said pharmacist Deborah Grayson of Practice With Confidence, adding:
Women have reported experiencing extremely traumatic outcomes — excruciating pain, heavy blood loss described as ‘gushing’, vomiting, sweating and intense emotional distress — all without medical support. That kind of experience, particularly if complications arise, can be both dangerous and frightening.
If any pregnancy tissue remains, surgical intervention may be required, which carries its own risks — especially if the womb is damaged in the process. The further along the pregnancy, the greater the danger.
Regardless of the extra dangers associated with online abortion pill sales or black market sales, the abortion pill has been found to be 4x times more dangerous than a first trimester surgical abortion, yet the abortion industry markets the pills as safe.
