Kamala Harris could be Joe Biden’s VP pick. Here’s what you need to know.

Democratic presidential candidate Joe Biden is expected to announce his choice of running mate any day now, but rumors have begun flying that Kamala Harris, a junior senator from California, has already been chosen behind the scenes. Yesterday, Politico reported that Harris was Biden’s official pick, before quickly yanking the story, and Biden was reportedly spotted holding a list of talking points regarding Harris earlier this week.

Background

Harris was elected to the Senate in 2017, but before that, she served as California’s Attorney General. She has a 100% rating from the Planned Parenthood Action Fund, and even received a congratulatory letter from them upon her election to the Senate.

During her time in the Senate, Harris co-sponsored the Women’s Health Protection Act, which essentially would have removed all restrictions on abortion, and made abortion legal up through birth. She also voted against a bill which would have prevented infanticide, and called a judicial nominee an “extremist” unfit for public service — just for being pro-life.

Bias and Corruption

On the heels of undercover videos from the Center for Medical Progress (CMP) exposing Planned Parenthood’s role in  the trafficking of aborted baby body parts, Harris refused to investigate. A bill created in response to the videos was also drafted by Beth Parker, chief legal counsel for Planned Parenthood Affiliates of California, with the help of Harris. Drafts of the bill were sent back and forth between Parker and Jill Habig, who served at the time as Harris’ special counsel. Parker even sent revised drafts to Habig, and Planned Parenthood eventually confirmed the Harris team’s involvement in crafting the bill, which sought to make recording undercover conversations with “health care providers” a crime.

Harris also teamed up with Planned Parenthood to discuss the California investigation against CMP’s lead journalists, David Daleiden and Sandra Merritt. A motion previously filed by the Thomas More Society revealed the extent of this collusion; Harris secretly met in person with Planned Parenthood executives, and Daleiden’s home was raided just two weeks later. The e-mail exchanges uncovered by the Thomas More Society showed Harris and Planned Parenthood working together to get a search warrant, enabling them to obtain CMP’s full, unedited videos. In response, Daleiden filed a federal lawsuit against Harris, Planned Parenthood, and the National Abortion Federation.

While it’s still not known for certain if Harris will be Biden’s running mate, what is clear is that Harris is undeniably pro-abortion.
