·Former Planned Parenthood director commits suicide amid child porn investigation
A former Planned Parenthood director committed suicide last week amid a police investigation into child pornography.
The Office of the Chief State Medical Examiner confirmed that 36-year-old Tim Yergeau died by suicide on Tuesday. He had formerly been the director of strategic communications for Planned Parenthood of Southern New England in New Haven, Connecticut from 2018 to 2022.
“The person who died was definitely the suspect in a child pornography investigation and the person who committed suicide,” New Haven police chief Karl Jacobson told the Middletown Press.
After the New Haven Police Special Victims Unit accidentally raided the wrong apartment, breaking down the door of Yergeau’s neighbor and placing her in handcuffs before realizing their mistake, Yergeau’s electronic devices were searched. However, he was not arrested at the time for unknown reasons.
“It was an open investigation, so he knew he was going to be arrested,” said Jacobson.
Five days later, Yergeau was found dead in his apartment. Police have not yet released information on the specific charges that Yergeau was facing or what was found in his apartment, as the investigation is ongoing while they try to confirm if anyone else was involved. There are still two open investigations regarding the case, and the Department of Internal Affairs is also investigating both how Yergeau was able to commit suicide days after the raid and how police mistakenly raided the wrong apartment.
Yergeau’s neighbor says she was traumatized by the police raid and has filed a complaint.
In 2022, Yergeau left Planned Parenthood to act as director of marketing and communications for Long Wharf Theatre. He had also previously worked for the New Haven Free Public Library.
“We are shocked and deeply saddened to learn the developments of the last 24 hours,” a spokesperson for the theater told the outlet. “Given the difficult news, it would be inappropriate to comment further.”
Yergeau’s personal Instagram account includes multiple photos of the Planned Parenthood pro-abortion “Bans off Our Bodies” slogan. In recent years, Planned Parenthood has entered the highly profitable business of selling hormones to gender dysphoric individuals as young as 16.
