Forced abortion opponent whom Christian Bale tried to visit escapes Chinese house arrest!

Here’s why the Chinese media is trying to cover this story up – Chen is a human rights activist and strongly opposes China’s forced abortion policy!

I first became aware of Chen’s story when movie actor Christian Bale attempted to visit him back in December while Chen was still under house arrest, and was turned away (and chased!) by plainclothes Chinese security officials. The video was aired on CNN:

“What I really wanted to do was to meet the man, shake his hand and say what an inspiration he is,” Bale said.

There is speculation that Chen could now be under American protection at the U.S. Embassy in Beijing. Let us hope that if this is the case, America continues to grant him sanctuary and refuses to hand him back over to the Chinese authorities! We should also pray for the activists and friends of Chen who may have helped him escape – many of them are now under arrest and investigation themselves.
