DEFUND DAY: Nationwide rallies call on Congress to end funding for Planned Parenthood

More than 200 rallies calling for the federal defunding of Planned Parenthood took place across the country today, in a “single coordinated day of demonstration.” Live Action, the driving force behind Defund Day, is urging Congress to finally and fully defund the abortion giant.

Key Takeaways:

  • Thousands of pro-lifers took part in 200 Defund Day demonstrations outside of Planned Parenthoods across the nation, led by Live Action.
  • Planned Parenthood is the U.S.’s top abortion business, killing more than 1,000 preborn babies a day. It also has been caught aiding child sex abusers.
  • The abortion corporation has also begun giving cross-sex hormones to minors and has quickly become one of the leading providers of these hormones, with no mental health evaluation required.
  • Planned Parenthood also indoctrinates America’s youth through its sex ed programs that give explicit and dangerous sex advice to children.
  • Planned Parenthood receives nearly $800,000 annually from the federal government.
  • The “Big Beautiful Bill” seeks to defund Planned Parenthood for 10 years and has already passed the U.S. House. As the Senate considers it, senators have threatened to shorten the defunding timespan to just one year. The Senate is said to be voting on the bill before July 4.

The Details:

Just days after the Supreme Court ruled that South Carolina, and thereby any state that wishes to, can defund Planned Parenthood at the state level, thousands of pro-lifers around the nation answered Live Action’s call to peacefully gather in front of their local Planned Parenthood facilities to call for the federal defunding of the abortion corporation.

At 10 a.m. local time on June 28, pro-lifers stood outside more than 200 Planned Parenthood locations to demand an end to federal taxpayer funding of the corporation, which takes in nearly $800 million in taxpayer funding annually.

A Defund Day demonstration took place in every state with a Planned Parenthood business.

In Anaheim, California, Live Action president and founder Lila Rose led the crowd of pro-lifers, stating:

There are thousands of people across the country right now rallying on behalf of babies. We are joined by thousands of advocates. This is a movement that is unstoppable because it is a movement fueled by love — love of the most vulnerable, love of mothers and fathers, love of life. We love life and we’re so grateful that we have the gift of life.

She added, “When girls [and] women who are in need go into Planned Parenthoods, they don’t find help. They don’t find real health care; they don’t find support. They find an organization — a corporation — that is intent on selling death and profiting from death.”

She urged Congress to “defund Planned Parenthood!”

Mark Lee Dickson, founder of the Sanctuary Cities for the Unborn Initiative, participated in a gathering at Planned Parenthood’s mega-center in Fairview Heights, Illinois. He wrote on Facebook:

Regardless of the state, Planned Parenthood is always a horrible place. To think that Planned Parenthood receives almost $800 million every year to do what they do really is unthinkable. Congress should defund them immediately. Not just for one year, or ten years, but forever.

He noted that today when he and several others gathered to call for an end to Planned Parenthood’s taxpayer funding, “innocent children made in the image of God were being brutally slaughtered at Planned Parenthood… They killed babies today from Illinois, Missouri, Arkansas, and God knows where else…” and this particular facility commits abortions surgically up to 26 weeks and chemically through 12 weeks. They also provide “hormone therapy and surgical referrals” guised as ‘gender-affirming care.’

Live Action’s news correspondent Christina Bennett led a rally at Planned Parenthood West Hartford Center in Connecticut. She wrote on Facebook:

Someone screamed repeatedly that we were disgusting. Multiple people cursed us out with the F word and their middle fingers. Someone told a father his little kids standing there should die.

Aside from that more people honked in support of our protest.

I don’t care if people scream at us because I know what I’m fighting for. The right to life is valuable and precious.

PP gets close to $800 million a year and kills over 400k babies yearly. We are called disgusting while standing in a front of a building where babies are being poisoned, dismembered and starved to death of nutrients. God have mercy on our nation.

Thanks to the brave ones who stood with us today. I’m only alive and able to stand because my mother walked out of her abortion appt. I pray 🙏🏾 others will do the same.

Bennett also shared the story of a woman named Lynn, who had previously visited the West Hartford Planned Parenthood when considering an abortion. Staff there offered her only an abortion, and she was scheduled to return the next day for the abortion pill. Instead, she called Bennett — and after a three-hour conversation, Lynn chose life for her baby boy, who was at the facility with her for Defund Day.

Live Action’s Sami Parker shared a similar story from outside a Planned Parenthood in Oregon, saying, “[W]e were joined by a beautiful little 20-month-old baby girl who was nearly a victim of the very same Planned Parenthood we stood outside of. Her biological father tried forcing her mother to abort her. This is why we demand #DefundPlannedParenthood. Because this place is built on the blood of innocent babies, and built on the fear of vulnerable (and oftentimes COERCED) women.”

Why It Matters:

Planned Parenthood is America’s largest abortion business — killing more than 400,000 preborn children annually, according to its latest annual report (over 1,000/day), and dispensing cross-sex hormones to minors.

It has also been known to aid sexual abusers, has failed to report child sexual abuse, and indoctrinates American children through sexual education programs that give dangerous and explicit sexual information to young children.

The Bottom Line:

The U.S. House has already voted in favor of the so-called “Big Beautiful Bill,” which would defund Planned Parenthood for 10 years, but the Senate is currently considering the bill and whether or not to defund the abortion corporation for 10 years, one year — or at all.

In response, Rose posted to X, “Republican senators should be fighting to extend the Planned Parenthood defund for as long as possible — every additional year saves lives. If 10 years won’t pass, push for 8 or 9. Dropping from 10 to 1 just makes no moral or strategic sense.”
