'DEFUND 250': Planned Parenthood's sex ed misleads and grooms kids

On July 4, 2026, America will celebrate the 250th anniversary of her founding — but unless Congress votes to continue banning federal Medicaid dollars from abortion providers like Planned Parenthood, July 4 will also be the day that America's most prolific killer of preborn children will see those taxpayer dollars once again pouring into its bank accounts.

Planned Parenthood deserves to be permanently defunded — and Live Action News' series, 'DEFUND 250,' plans to remind the public of many reasons why.

While widely considered to be a "trusted" sex-ed leader, Planned Parenthood has made it repeatedly clear that its goal is to replace parental authority on sex with its own explicit brand of sex education. It lulls minors into a false sense of security with birth control and when it inevitably fails, it directs those minors toward its own "services" including abortion.

Key Takeaways:

  • Planned Parenthood lies to children about prenatal development.

  • Planned Parenthood also lies to them about sex in multiple ways, sets them up to fail, and encourages risky behaviors.

The Details:

#1: Planned Parenthood's curriculum lies to kids about prenatal development

Planned Parenthood's Sex Ed To Go curriculum contains many errors that mislead kids, but one of the biggest is the inclusion of misleading images of purported human embryos. The MYA Network released these images years ago with the help of The Guardian, and the backlash was swift, even from pro-abortion sources who urged MYA not to give false information — not even to promote abortion.

The images feature only the gestational sacs of embryos at various gestational ages but mislead students by claiming they are photos of the actual embryos themselves. Live Action researcher and writer Sheena Rodriguez noted in an article for Live Action News:

The Sex Ed To-Go lesson for teachers, “Teaching Pregnancy, Childbirth, Adoption & Abortion,” utilizes a PowerPoint presentation which uses deliberately deceptive photos from the MYA Network. As Live Action News reported in 2022, these photos show only fragments of the empty gestational sac at various points of development, yet falsely portray the photos as accurate representations of six- and nine-week pregnancies.

The Sex Ed To-Go module is even worse; the Planned Parenthood presenter flat-out lies to students and teachers using the MYA photos to claim, “At six weeks, an embryo looks like the first image: like a small tuft of cotton or a piece of a dandelion.” This is quickly followed by the claim, “About 36% — just over one third — of abortions happen between 7 and 9 weeks of gestational age. You can see a fetus at that stage in the second image.” Students and teachers literally cannot see the preborn baby in the photo in the false and medically inaccurate lesson plan.

#2: Planned Parenthood video tells kids 'virginity' isn't real

Live Action News reported on a video released by the abortion corporation in 2024, noting that it wasn't the first time Planned Parenthood had made such a claim:

In June of 2023, a similar tweet from Planned Parenthood calling virginity a “social construct” received major backlash. X users argued that Planned Parenthood’s denial of virginity was part of a broader push to lower the age of consent or normalize pedophilia. “Translation: ‘children’ are a social construct…,” one user tweeted. Another mocked Planned Parenthood’s “[v]irginity is a social construct” graphic with one that read “[a]ge is a social construct.”

The video encourages students to define "sex" and "virginity" however they want to.

#3: Planned Parenthood's pornographic "sex deck"

In 2023, Planned Parenthood gave a presentation to ninth-graders in Saskatchewan and brought as a resource an alphabetic deck of cards that used pornographic slang to refer to sexual acts for LGBTQ+ individuals.

As Live Action News reported:

The directions for the cards state, “Sex from A-Z is a set of cards intended for gay, bi and queer young people. This is a fun and accessible resource that facilitates humorous and frank discussion among young people about sexuality and HIV and STI prevention. It can also be used by service providers as a discussion tool in workshops and training sessions.”

The cards are meant for adult volunteers to use in order to introduce and discuss sexual activity with teens.

Suggestions for the volunteers include groomer-esque conversations regarding sexual actions in a “sex-positive” manner that includes asking the students about any “personal experience” they have with the array of sexual activities presented on the cards. The sex educator is advised to celebrate all of the activities, even — and especially — when the children react negatively.

#4: Planned Parenthood distributes sexually graphic coloring books to grade schoolers

In 2025, the Kentucky Science Center hosted a "Health and Wellness Days" event for students from ages 8-13. Five local schools attended, and Planned Parenthood had sought and been granted permission to set up as a vendor at the event.

Unfortunately, Planned Parenthood brought along some age-inappropriate coloring books as well, which featured "images of breasts, penises, condoms, pills, and activities to be filled out, including a “sex-lib” fill-in-the-blank," as Live Action News reported.

#5: Planned Parenthood tells teen anything goes as long as it's 'consensual'

Live Action's SEXED undercover investigation found Planned Parenthood encouraging BDSM activities, even among very young teens, who aren't even legally able to consent to sex. In one of those videos:

... The footage reveals an employee encouraging an investigator, who told the worker she is 15, to experiment with alarming sexual activities. The counselor coaches the girl that sexual practices, including the use of horse whips and ropes to inflict welts and bodily pain, is not sexual abuse as long as activities are consensual among partners....

The staffer also mentions that Planned Parenthood patients have visited the clinic with welts and markings as a result of violent sex games, and refers the investigator to neighborhood adult sex shops to purchase sex toys.

#6: Planned Parenthood sets kids up to fail

In 2021, Planned Parenthood of Massachusetts came under fire for allowing children too young to legally consent to sex to visit their clinics to obtain condoms and lubricant.

Former Planned Parenthood manager Ramona Treviño stated that promoting birth control to people — especially young people — was part of the plan to "generate a profit" for the corporation.

“Planned Parenthood is not in the business of prevention,” she said. “... Promoting abstinence, self-control, or monogamous marriage does not keep the blood money flowing in. SEX. Sex is how Planned Parenthood meets its abortion quotas.”

#7: Planned Parenthood makes kids think they can consent to sex

In 2021, Vermont became the first state to require school nurses' offices to "make condoms available" to middle schoolers and high schoolers. Planned Parenthood praised the decision, but as Live Action News reported:

The minimum age of sexual consent in Vermont is set at 16. While there are some “close in age” exceptions, students in middle school are well below this age — approximately 13 and younger, unable to legally consent to sexual activity — yet they will be entitled to receive condoms at school.

Shockingly, Chicago began distributing condoms to children as young as 10.

#8: Planned Parenthood-endorsed sex ed lies about gender identity

In 2018, a father said his 12-year-old daughter, who was instructed using a PP-endorsed FLASH (Family Life and Sexual Health) curriculum, came home "traumatized" after she was told "that if she was into fishing and wearing athletic gear, or playing basketball, that those were boy things. And that would mean that she was a boy inside and that she was gay.”

The girl's father said that of the curriculum, "Twenty out of 32 pages are generated to gender identity. It’s heavily weighted towards that. It’s biased toward that.”

#9: Planned Parenthood tells kids they can be any gender they choose... regardless of age

In 2023, a Washington state elementary school told students as young as nine that they could be any gender they wished to be, and used Planned Parenthood sex ed materials to do it.

Radio host Jason Rantz stated that “Materials presented by Planned Parenthood included drawings of pubic hair shaped like an animal, and students were told they could pick from a number of contrived genders to identify as. Some of the materials promoted medication to block puberty.”

As Live Action News reported:

In addition to being asked what pronouns ‘feel good’ to them, the students were given a “gender wheel” worksheet that included different so-called identities including “trans,” “intersex,” “drag king,” “trans femme,” “agender person,” “boi grrl,” and “nonbinary.” Possible pronouns included he and she but also “they,” “ze,” and “tree.”

#10: Planned Parenthood claims extreme deviant sexual behavior is 'normal'

As Live Action News previously reported that Planned Parenthood recommends various sex ed programs and also promotes equally questionable resources:

Their resources page for many affiliates also promotes a website called, “Go Ask Alice.” This website’s Q&A section contains an array of bizarre topics, including:

• Experimenting playing with feces

• How fetishes are normal (including wearing a diaper for one’s sexual partner)

• Advocating for masturbation with one’s friends

• Says sadomasochism “absolutely is” normal (while explaining in great detail what it is in another answer)

• Advocating for drinking urine

• Explaining role-playing for BDSM for a girlfriend whose boyfriend wants her to hit him

• Suggests bestiality “may be normal”

One answer suggests that parents turn to the Sexuality Information and Education Council of the United States (SIECUS) for help in talking to their children about sex. This organization’s sex ed guidelines have come under fire for their promotion of abortion as “safe” as well as the description of masturbation to 5-8 year olds. Of course, Planned Parenthood itself encourages even young children to masturbate.

The Bottom Line:

This is only a sampling of the misleading and dangerous sex misinformation that Planned Parenthood promotes to children. This organization is no friend to parents and does not deserve a penny of taxpayer funding. It should be stripped of all taxpayer funding permanently.
