California pet pharmacy owner operates second pharmacy selling abortion pills

Live Action News has found that the owner of a veterinary pharmacy in California is also the apparent owner of an online, mail-order pharmacy listed as dispensing the abortion pill.

"Dr. Jaspreet Lalli DVM" is shown as the president as the owner of the California Pet Pharmacy (CPP Health). Lalli is also listed as the owner of Arlo Health (aka Arlo Rx), a national, online mail-order pharmacy currently listed by generic abortion pill manufacturer GenBioPro (GBP) as a dispensary for the abortion pill.

Though Lalli is listed in the NPI registry as a DVM (doctor of veterinary medicine), Live Action News could not confirm his license or credentials with the California Veterinary Medical Board.

Key Takeaways:

The Details:

California Pet Pharmacy (CPP)

The California Pet Pharmacy was founded in 2010 and trademarked in 2011 as a provider of "retail veterinary pharmacy services" and describes itself online as a "fully licensed and accredited pet pharmacy based in Hayward, CA."

"We specialize in pet health products and continue to add new products daily. All products are FDA and EPA approved. We only carry products intended for the use in the USA," the pharmacy notes.

In 2011, the company boasted use of the USPS "every door direct mail" program as a "way to 'fetch' customers without all the fuss of needing to buy a mailing list, plus saving on mail preparation and printing costs."

"CPP HEALTH is a trademark owned by California Pet Pharmacy, a Hayward based entity located in CA. The trademark was filed on 13 Mar 2023," TradeMarkia.com claims. Yelp reviews for CPP are abysmal and the Better Business Bureau (BBB) shows a number of complaints. The California Pet Pharmacy is also listed on Wal-Mart's website.

Misoprostol, which has many uses but is also often used as an abortion drug, is carried by the pet pharmacy according to VCAHospitals.com. It can be used to treat various conditions in animals as well:

Misoprostol is used off label (extra label) to treat or prevent stomach ulcers due to NSAID use in cats, dogs, and horses. It can also be used in combination with other medications to treat uterine infections, protect the kidneys, treat skin allergies, or to terminate pregnancy.

While California Pet Pharmacy website appears to sell only misoprostol (and not the abortion drug mifepristone), the same cannot be said for Arlo Health.

Arlo 'powered' by CPP Health

Arlo Health's order form shows it is "powered by" the California Pet Pharmacy (CPP Health) and instructs customers to "Search for 'CPP Health' in your e-scripting software." CPP Health is also listed under the "Limited Liability" clause of the Arlo Rx website.

Arlo Health sells mifepristone (200mg) alone as well as a combo pack of the two-drug mifepristone and misoprostol abortion pill regimen. Both generic drugs are manufactured by GenBioPro.

Corporate filings connect companies

Corporate filings for Arlo Health at the California Secretary of State list Jaspreet Lalli as the company's Chief Executive Officer, Chief Financial Officer, and Secretary. In addition, Jaspreet and Manpreet Lalli are both listed as directors.

The address for Arlo Health and California Pet Pharmacy (CPP) are the same — 3157 CORPORATE PLACE HAYWARD, CA 94545 — with Jaspreet Lalli listed as CEO of both entities.

Arlo Health appears to sell the abortion pill regimen in the following states: California, Colorado, Connecticut, District of Columbia, Delaware, Hawai’i, Illinois, Maine, Maryland, Massachusetts, Michigan, Minnesota, New Hampshire, New Jersey, Nevada, New Mexico, New York, Oregon, Pennsylvania, Rhode Island, Vermont, Virginia, and Washington.

GenBioPro

GenBioPro (GBP) — located in Las Vegas, Nevada, and headed by its president Evan Masingill — was approved as the generic drug maker in 2019 by the Trump FDA. The pro-abortion David and Lucile Packard Foundation funds GenBioPro, just as it funded the set-up of highly secretive abortion pill manufacturer Danco Laboratories. In addition to Packard, the San Francisco-based Parsemus Foundation has been granting and loaning GenBioPro thousands of dollars.

GBP states online:

We’ve been working for patients, health care providers, and pharmacies since 2012. Our market entry and competitive presence triggered changes that have benefited the community and increased access to medical abortion. Before coming to market, we advocated for reduced dosage requirements, an expanded treatment window, broader prescriber privileges, and fewer required patient visits.

Whether GBP was part of the same coalition that led Danco to request changes leading to the erosion of the REMS safety regulations in 2016 or not is unclear, but those expansions opened the door for the FDA to approve the generic drug.

The company certifies prescribers of the generic abortion drug (mifepristone 200mg) and since the Biden FDA enabled pharmacy dispensing of the drug, GBP has been increasingly certifying pharmacies to become agents of abortion pill sales on their behalf.

Today, GenBioPro claims to control a significant share of the abortion pill market. Several of the company's paid consultants have authored abortion pill studies or market themselves to the media as experts, claiming the drug is safe.

In reality, it is extremely risky, and its adverse effects have been underreported to the manufacturer, and in turn, the FDA, for at least a decade.
