In June, Live Action held its first ever Women’s Summit: Return to Eden, where speaker Lisa Bevere detailed for attendees what being a “hero of the faith” really means.
Bevere is a New York Times bestselling author and an internationally known minister, as well as the co-founder (alongside her husband, John) of Messenger International, an organization committed to developing uncompromising followers of Christ who transform their world.
Key Takeaways:
- Bestselling author Lisa Bevere encouraged women to fight against the lies of our spiritual enemy to protect future generations.
- She stated that being a hero in faith means being courageous enough to speak truth, even when it is unpopular.
- She reminded attendees that our enemy is not a person or an individual, nor is it men or our children — it is the enemy of our souls, and we must “merge truth and love” when confronting these false cultural ideas.
The Details:
Bevere began her talk with a quote from A.W. Tozer: “We can be in our day what the heroes of faith were in their day — but remember at the time they didn’t know they were heroes.” This, she said, is what the women at the summit were: heroes preparing for spiritual battle.
“I remember when I first became a Christian, I was like, I want to be a hero of faith. But being a hero of faith is not about how many people like your social media posts. Being a hero in faith is being courageous,” she said. “And no matter what happens, you do everything for life and love and truth and hope and faith. And you refuse to be moved.”
She added, “Heroes are born in battle. And whether you realize it or not, as women, we were created for battle.”
She then pointed out how, in the book of Genesis, it’s made clear that our spiritual enemy always battles against our children. “The truth is, the enemy is after your children,” she said. “And if you won’t fight for yourself, you need to fight for the generations.”
“We cannot falter. Because when we falter, the next generation has to fight to recover the grounds that we have lost. Something I’ve learned as a mother is, our children will either inherit God’s promises or our fears,” said Bevere. “And I want to position the next generation with the promises of God and not the fears of my past. I want them to go further and farther. So we need to be that generation that rises up and says, enough is enough.”
Additionally, Bevere hit back against the false feminist notion that men are “unnecessary” for the future. The problem is that our real enemy — Satan — has turned families against one another. The answer is Jesus.
“The highest form of government is still the family,” she said.
“We live in a day right now where lies are truth. Truth are lies. Right is wrong. Left is right. Everything is upside down,” she said. “But we were made for this moment.”
The Bottom Line:
Bevere reminded women that though feminism has told women they must act like or even ‘become’ like men in order to be strong or powerful, this is not the case.
