Florida woman gives birth in secret to avoid forced abortion

A young woman from Palm Bay, Florida, was arrested this week after giving birth in a bathroom and leaving her child in a plastic bag underneath the sink. Let me guess. This happened because she did not have access to a safe and legal abortion, right? Wrong. According to Florida Today,

She told police she hid her pregnancy because previously, her mother and the mother of her baby’s father forced her into having an abortion. She thought they would make her do the same with this pregnancy.

After giving birth in the bathroom, the eighteen-year-old girl was taken to a hospital for excessive bleeding and later arrested for child abuse. Of course, if she had gone to the nearest abortion clinic and had the child ripped to pieces, there would have been no crime.  Her baby is now fine, but the people who killed her first child are facing no charges.

Now if she was eighteen when she gave birth, this woman must have been a minor when she was forced to have an abortion. While there is no way of knowing for certain where she received this abortion, I visited the website of the nearest abortion clinic and found the slogan: “Compassionately Serving Women Since 1974.” I wonder if this compassionate service includes questions such as the following: Do you want to have an abortion? Is this your choice? Do you feel uncomfortable? I struggle to understand how “qualified and caring” medical workers, as they are described on the website, could fail to ascertain that a minor was being pressured to have an abortion. When a nervous teenager comes in with an older adult, does this trigger no concern? Did this girl have the opportunity to speak to a counselor in private? Did that counselor ask probing questions?

Perhaps there is only one question that really matters at the clinic: Will this be cash, check, or charge?

Over the years, undercover reporters from Live Action have released dozens of videos documenting compassionate and caring abortion providers as they cover up statutory rape, provide sex-selective abortions, facilitate teenage prostitution, and most recently, coach young girls in dangerous and abusive sexual practices. One or two incidents might be dismissed as anomalies, but the notion that the abortion industry has the best interests of women in mind is getting harder and harder to believe.
