In Canada, we're told that late-term abortions don't happen and, if they do, it's only for serious medical conditions. RightNow went undercover to four abortion clinics to see if this was true. Here's what happened in Toronto:

Pro-life group exposes late-term abortion industry in Canada
Pro-life group Right Now Canada has published an undercover video uncovering the reality of late-term abortions in Canada, directly contesting the federal Liberal government’s allegation that such abortions are “rare” and only done for “serious medical issues.”
Key Takeaways:
A Canadian pro-life group went undercover and found that, contrary to elected officials and the government, late-term abortions past 20 weeks are being done in Canada without medical reason.
Canada is one of the few countries in the world with essentially no limits on abortion.
The Details:
The video, recorded in 2023, depicts RightNow’s executive director Alissa Golob visiting four Toronto abortion businesses at 22 weeks pregnant. Golob presented herself as a woman seeking a late-term abortion for reasons of personal choice. Yet the video revealed that clinic staff did not evaluate medical reasons or motivations for Golob’s planned abortion, merely detailing the procedural aspects and costs — typically around $2,137 on a cash-only arrangement.
Although one facility restricted its abortions at six months, it referred Golob to other businesses without a gestational cap, including locations that could do abortions up to eight months (about 32 weeks) of pregnancy.
“There was no reason asked. There was no reason given. And they pointedly told me that there definitely needed to be no medical reason as well,” Golob, alluding to the Toronto facility, told the Western Standard.
The video’s conclusion undermines former Toronto Liberal MP Carolyn Bennett’s claim that “the assertion that late-term abortions can be performed ‘for any reason, or no reason at all’ is just not true”, according to a report by Juno News. Bennett previously made her allegation in a missive to the National Post in 2013.
Canada’s federal Public Health Agency’s website similarly asserts: “Abortion is one of the most commonly performed medical procedures in the country” and alleges that “late-term abortions are rare and only occur because of serious medical issues.”

The video showed an abortion counselor with Toronto Cabbagetown Women’s Clinic admitting that it "might be impossible" to obtain an abortion at “35 or 36 weeks” (nine months), but at 30 weeks (seven and a half months) it “would be very possible,” as reported by the Western Standard.
“The system certainly doesn’t think that’s too far,” said the counselor. “In terms of when is too far, that’s different answers depending on who is answering it. The law in Canada and the US overall doesn’t have a ‘too far.’”
“Canada doesn’t have a limit, okay?” the counselor stated in the video, before recommending a nearby facility that has no limit, elaborating that the facility will conduct an abortion for a woman who is up to eight months pregnant.
What's Happening:
Right Now Canada has launched a petition calling on the federal government under Prime Minister Mark Carney to implement legislation that legally bans abortions after 20 weeks (five months) of pregnancy, in tune with guidelines from the Canadian Medical Association and other healthcare bodies. The pro-life group stated:
Polls consistently show that the majority of Canadians want abortion restrictions, do not support taxpayer funded abortion and want greater regulations like parental and informed consent.
Additionally, the leadership of Right Now Canada has highlighted that current Canadian abortion laws, or the lack thereof, do not mirror public opinion surrounding abortion and fail to safeguard the welfare of women and unborn children.
The Bottom Line:
Based on figures from the Canadian government, abortion remains common in Canada, and the country tragically remains one of the few with no criminal laws limiting abortion at any gestational stage.
