Pregnant Anne Hathaway gets emotional at 'The Odyssey'-themed baby gift
Actress Anne Hathaway, who is currently pregnant with her third child, recently had an emotional reaction to a baby gift she received that was inspired by her new film, "The Odyssey."
Anne Hathaway is currently pregnant with her third child and in a recent TODAY interview promoting her new film, "The Odyssey," she received a baby gift that moved her to tears.
Hathaway’s emotional response to the gift is a touching reminder that pregnancy is the anticipation of a real child who already exists, and is already loved and awaited.
During a July 16 interview with her "The Odyssey" co-star Tom Holland, TODAY host Craig Melvin presented Hathaway with a bespoke baby outfit styled in the theme of the film, complete with crocheted pieces that resembled ancient battle gear. The set included a diaper cover, a cape, and a helmet.
The Oscar-winning actress, who is expecting her third child with husband Adam Shulman, was visibly moved by a gift to her.
“When the child comes out, we want the child ready for battle,” Melvin quipped.
“This is so cute,” she also admitted, while trying to hold back tears. “Who is talented enough to make all of this?”
She elaborated, “This is appropriately epic. Thank you so much. This is amazing.”

Before presenting the gift, Melvin shared a social media post with Hathaway that read: “Anne Hathaway having 5 movies premiering this year and then announcing that she’s pregnant is the level of productivity that men can’t achieve."
“It’s amazing,” Melvin stated. “You’ve made everyone else in Hollywood look and feel lazy.”
The actress, already a mother to sons Jonathan, 10, and Jack, 6, posted an Instagram video on June 19, wearing a billowing white dress and stepping into view with her hands held over her stomach. She smiled, placed a hand on her bump, and then moved out of view. She captioned the post, “x Baby, I’m yours x.”
A source told PEOPLE that Hathaway is "grateful for where she is in her career. Complaining just isn’t Anne. She approaches things with gratitude and professionalism,” the source said, adding, “Right now, she’s focused on family and enjoying a little downtime.”
In a May interview for Elle’s Summer 2026 issue, Hathaway reportedly shared a rare glimpse into life with her two sons. The mother of two, who plays Penelope in "The Odyssey," divulged that her boys are “in this really fun zone where we all love hanging out together, which I understand may change.”
“Well, we will always love hanging out with them, but their feelings about us might change,” Hathaway stated. "We’re all just in it. Adam and I are soaking it up. I’m having the most wonderful time with my family, living in the city of my dreams, and work seems to be going really, really well."
Hathaway’s emotional response to the gift is a touching reminder that pregnancy is not just a headline or a celebrity moment that was captured on screen but the anticipation of a real child who already exists, and is already loved and awaited.
The baby gift, though humorous, showcased the humanity of motherhood and the emotional bond between mother and child forming before birth.
In a time when unborn children are frequently talked about in abstract terms and statistics by pro-abortion advocates, moments like Hathaway’s reactions are noticeable as they depict pregnancy as a blessing to be celebrated.
