Planned Parenthood decries Ohio’s decision to protect minors from medical experimentation

Planned Parenthood, one of the largest providers of cross-sex hormones, has decried a decision by the Ohio legislature to ban so-called “gender-affirming care for transgender and non-binary youth,” and to “bar young Ohioans from participating in high school or college sports aligned with their gender identity.”

Planned Parenthood is among the organizations praising legislation seeking to codify access to transgender services by shielding those providers — much like they did for abortion. In addition, abortion facilities across the United States are also cashing in on the proliferation of transgender confusion, with some openly advertising “gender-affirming” services to minors.

But a growing number of parents and lawmakers like the ones in Ohio are pushing back to oppose this agenda and urging states to pass legislation to protect minor children.

Ohio Legislation Protects Minors

The legislation (HB68), known as the “Ohio Saving Adolescents from Experimentation (SAFE) Act” was vetoed by Governor Mike DeWine in December. According to the Cincinnati Enquirer, DeWine had argued that “decisions about gender transition care should be left to families and their medical providers.”

Instead of signing the bill into law, the media outlet reported that “DeWine signed an executive order banning Ohio hospitals and surgical facilities from performing gender transition surgery on minors. His administration also proposed rules to collect data on transgender medical care and regulate the treatment of adults and children with gender dysphoria.”

But in January, the Ohio House voted to override Gov. Mike DeWine’s veto against Ohio House Bill 68 in a 65-28 vote, according to ABCNews.com. Days later, on January 24, 2024, the Ohio Senate overrode the Governor’s veto by a vote of 24 to 8. The law is set to take effect in April of this year.

Planned Parenthood Responds

In response to lawmakers overriding DeWine’s veto, Planned Parenthood, a top provider and profiteer of so-called “gender-affirming care” — which normalizes changing gender anytime someone ‘feels’ like it and willingly refers minors for life-altering drugs — lashed out by labeling lawmakers “extremists” who were “working overtime to dehumanize transgender, nonbinary, and intersex Ohioans – especially our youth.”

Planned Parenthood of Greater Ohio, which “offers initial and follow-up gender-affirming hormone therapy visits through telehealth,” even posted a message on their website boasting that they would continue to offer “gender-affirming hormone therapy to adults 18+.”

But are opponents of injecting children with experimental cross-sex hormones truly extreme and attempting to dehumanize them? Or is Planned Parenthood simply (like it has done with abortion) attempting to normalize something which has the potential to do serious and irreversible harm to children? Even adults claim regret after taking these body-altering drugs.

Helena Kerschner, a 23-year-old detransitioner from Cincinnati, Ohio, who was born a biological female, previously claimed to the New York Post that she felt political pressure to transition.

“In Helena’s case, all it took to get a testosterone prescription was one trip to Planned Parenthood when she was 18. She said she was given four times the typical starting dose by a nurse practitioner in less than an hour, without ever seeing a doctor,” the media outlet reported.

One trip.

“For Helena, testosterone caused emotional instability that culminated with two hospitalizations for self-harm,” the NY Post wrote, “While in the hospital she came to the realization that her transition was a mistake.”

“I saw a montage of photos of me, and when I saw how much my face changed and how unhappy I looked, I realized this was all f****d up and I shouldn’t have done it. It was a really dark time,” Helena said.

“Today, the largest group of people identifying as transgender are adolescent girls,” Helena told an Ohio legislative committee last year. “I was one of those trans youth that activists claim to support. But since I was harmed by gender medicine I’m reduced to just ‘a bigot,'” she said with firm emotion.

“You know a child, or a teenager cannot consent to lifelong consequences regardless of what they say or what the adults around them involved in activism say,” Helena pointed out. “Do the right thing even if its unpopular and protect the young and vulnerable with your vote….”

Earlier this year, a former Planned Parenthood worker admitted that transgender services are basically a cash cow for the organization, tweeting from her @JamieWhistle handle on “X”: “Planned Parenthood (and I was a clinical manager at PP years ago) makes money from visits. We used to stack 4 patients an hour. The quicker the ‘assessment’ the more they make.”

She then called “to ensure the safety of American children,” writing in the Free Press (FP) that “we need a moratorium on the hormonal and surgical treatment of young people with gender dysphoria.”

Planned Parenthood Sees Boom in GAC Services

Nationally, facilities that offer so-called “transgender-affirming care” at Planned Parenthood have increased radically, growing from 26 facilities in 2015 to offering cross-sex hormone services in 41 of its 49 affiliates by 2021.

Statewide in Ohio, the increase has also been significant. Recent annual reports reveal that Planned Parenthood of Greater Ohio (PPGO) saw a 544% increase in “transgender services” visits in just one year — from 2021 to 2022.

“Sex is a label — male or female — that you’re assigned by a doctor at birth based on the genitals you’re born with and the chromosomes you have. It goes on your birth certificate,” PPGO claims online. “Gender identity is how you feel inside and how you express your gender through clothing, behavior, and personal appearance. It’s a feeling that begins very early in life.”

A separate affiliate, Planned Parenthood of the Southwest Ohio Region (PPSWOR), recorded a 294% (293.80%) jump in “gender-affirming care visits,” showing 242 in 2021 and 953 in 2022.

While Planned Parenthood offers transgender services to adults, a growing number of affiliates openly advertise that they also offer the body-altering hormone drugs to minors (some promote “puberty blockers” for children or provide hormone injections to minors).

And it is clear that Planned Parenthood has plans to expand its targeting of teens; a brochure uploaded by the Virginia League for Planned Parenthood affiliate claims to serve “patients 16 & older for HRT, with the hope to serve younger patients in the future.” (emphasis added)

In their response to the move in Ohio to protect minors, Lauren Blauvelt, Executive Director of Planned Parenthood Advocates of Ohio, stated that, ‘[a]ll kids across the state, regardless of who they are, deserve access to quality, affirming health care, and the opportunity to participate in the same activities as their classmates.”

This prompted Ohio native Mark Harrington, president and founder of Created Equal, to ask, “But what about the hundreds of thousands of preborn children Planned Parenthood slaughtered just last year through elective abortion? Did they ‘deserve access to quality, affirming health care’ and equal opportunity as well?” Their personhood and right to exist certainly weren’t “affirmed” by Planned Parenthood.

Planned Parenthood’s Ohio affiliate tells supporters that “it’s perfectly okay to have multiple abortions” and that “gender-affirming care” is “lifesaving.” Why wouldn’t they, when they make money off of both?

“Groups like Planned Parenthood speak out of both sides of their mouth. For while they pretend to care about equal rights and opportunities for ‘all kids… regardless of who they are,’ they have no qualms with killing and dismembering hundreds of thousands of preborn babies every year,” Harrington also said.

Ohio to Lead Nation

The move in Ohio was also praised by detransitioner Chloe Cole.

She descriptively called transgender services “medical experimentation that plagued my youth” and “radical gender ideology,” claiming it was a “hotbed in the Midwest for child sex trade modification experiments.”

“This is a very personal and sentimental moment for me. It was here in the beautiful State of Ohio where I was first given the platform to tell my cautionary tale. And now, after liberating children in over twenty states, Ohio has finally finished its job with the strongest bill against gender mutilation and the attack on women’s sports in the nation.”

“I hope that by achieving this win, Ohio can lead… the rest of the nation to end this barbaric sexual lobotomy,” she stated.

The DOJ put a pro-life grandmother in jail this Christmas for protesting the killing of preborn children. Please take 30-seconds to TELL CONGRESS: STOP THE DOJ FROM TARGETING PRO-LIFE AMERICANS.
