At Planned Parenthood, abortions are unfairly pushed as quick-fix solutions
In a recently released Live Action video, former Planned Parenthood employees speak out to highlight how abortion-focused the abortion giant really is. In its first day, the video earned over 1 million views on Facebook, as Americans heard shocking details like the pizza parties offered to clinics who committed the expected number of abortions and fulfilled their quotas.
Live Action President Lila Rose spoke with former Planned Parenthood manager Sue Thayer, who explained how her facility had quotas for abortion referrals. It was such a priority that Thayer explained how they tried to schedule an abortion for the woman while she was still at the facility:
Planned Parenthood and supporters have boasted that Planned Parenthood provides services for free. Why, then, would an employee make a pregnant woman’s financial situation into something to make her feel bad about, whether it be she merely doesn’t have the $10 on her that day, or is truly financially struggling, unless the focus was less on the woman’s well-being and more about convincing her to have an abortion?
Further, by making such comments to a pregnant woman, Planned Parenthood employees are providing more evidence that Planned Parenthood doesn’t help pregnant women who want to keep their babies. Previous investigative videos have already shown that very few Planned Parenthood locations offer prenatal care or ultrasounds other than for abortion purposes. Another newly released video from Live Action highlights former manager Ramona Trevino, who explains: “There was nothing we could offer women who were pregnant.” Unless of course, they wanted an abortion.
Abortion is billed as a kind of quick fix solution. These kinds of rushed conversation from abortion referral facilities, which mirror the counseling at facilities where the abortion is actually done, don’t discuss the side effects from abortion. This is sadly not surprising, as the abortion industry dismisses women who suffer from their abortions. It can be difficult to make it through an unplanned pregnancy when in dire financial situations, but that’s why there are crisis pregnancy centers women can turn to. Unlike Planned Parenthood, pregnancy centers can assist in helping women find material aid during their pregnancies, and they will also assist women after the baby has been born.
If a mother doesn’t feel equipped to raise her child — for financial or any other reasons — adoption is a realistic solution. Those considering adoption often get their cost of prenatal care paid for, along with vitamins, clothes, and other needs during the pregnancy. But considering Planned Parenthood performs 200 abortions for every one adoption referral, as the Heritage Foundation noted, it wouldn’t be surprising that this option is all too often left out of serious conversations at Planned Parenthood.
Abortion may be the best solution for Planned Parenthood, but it isn’t for the mother, and it isn’t for her child.
As someone who has faced an unplanned pregnancy, I know firsthand how vulnerable women in such a situation can be. Planned Parenthood’s pressure on women and their push to abort breaks my heart. How is it pro-woman to tell another woman that she can’t do something? It’s not. The bottom line is that Planned Parenthood’s advice is pro-profit for the pro-abortion Planned Parenthood.
