More injuries in recent months documented at Illinois abortion businesses

Pro-life watchdog Operation Rescue has shared that three women have been injured in the past handful of months at Illinois abortion facilities.

Skokie

The first injury took place at Carafem Health Center in Skokie on December 4, 2024. According to the 911 transcript, the 31-year-old patient was severely hemorrhaging and needed emergency care. The caller stated that a nurse practitioner — not a doctor — was with the woman. This facility offers the abortion pill along with on-site aspiration procedures. Illinois law allows nurse practitioners to commit abortions, putting women further at risk when they need advanced medical treatment as this woman did. Operation Rescue has previously documented several abortion injuries at this business.

Aurora

On March 5, 2025, a woman was injured at Planned Parenthood in Aurora. Again, the injuries were heavy bleeding after a “procedure” — most likely an abortion. Alarmingly, this is the third reported abortion injury at this location this year alone. This facility offers second-trimester D&E abortions, and has a long history of injuring women.

Granite City

The third incident took place on April 5, 2025, at Hope Clinic for Women in Granite City. The patient was witnessed leaving the abortion business in an ambulance. Though the 911 transcript has not yet been released, an EMS radio transcript reports that the 30-year-old woman was experiencing heavy bleeding. This particular abortion facility has a reputation for injuring women; Live Action News has shared many instances of botched abortions and abortion injuries that have occurred here over the years.

One of the most pro-abortion states in the country, Illinois is home to multiple abortion facilities that have a track record of injuring women. Despite this, the state’s lawmakers refuse to implement facility safeguards or standards that would help to reduce the harm done to women. The state’s 2026 budget contains $24 million for “reproductive health initiatives.” Of that amount, $5 million was earmarked for abortion training.

“These increasing medical emergencies raise crucial questions about the total lack of safety practices and regulatory oversight for abortion facilities in Illinois,” noted Operation Rescue President Troy Newman.

“There are health regulations for making fast food french fries, but none to protect a woman at a surgical abortion clinic,” he added. “Babies get killed and women get injured in the process almost every week, yet the mainstream media and other ‘women’s rights advocates’ remain silent.”
