Mom shares story of miscarriage at 9 weeks, and the response is overwhelming

Earlier this month, a woman named Priscilla shared her story with Live Action News, after reading an e-mail from Live Action founder and president Lila Rose in honor of Pregnancy and Infant Loss Awareness Month. Just weeks earlier, she had suffered a tragic miscarriage.

“My husband and I saw a fully intact amniotic sac, a little bigger than an orange, in which the baby still had its umbilical cord attached. We retrieved and held our baby,” she wrote. “I birthed the placenta days later and bled for weeks after. We buried our baby recently and the grief has been unimaginable.”

The pictures of her baby, shared with Live Action News, hit back against the notion that preborn children are just meaningless “clumps of cells.” Instead, intricate details easily noticeable, even in black and white. “People might try to say my experience was different than the process of an abortion, but as you said your email – whether wanted but miscarried or unwanted and aborted – each child is a HUMAN life that is not ours to take,” she continued. “I just wanted to say thank you so much for what you do, and I hope that these pictures of our sweet baby offer a small glimpse of God’s creativity and marvelousness.”

The heartfelt article was shared on the Live Action News Facebook page, where it quickly went viral; it garnered over 16,000 reactions and hundreds of comments. It was also shared thousands of times. And many people openly discussed how Priscilla’s post affirmed the humanity of the preborn — and also shared their own stories of loss.

“I lost one in 1974 in my 9th week,” a woman named Joanne wrote. “Bless you. Prayers for healing.”

Another person said, “Yes a baby [sic]. Sorry for your loss. Very sad since my mom lost a child between my brother and me. Thank you for sharing.”

“I had a miscarriage and my [doctor] said it is a baby and I will baptize it if you like,” another commenter shared. “We said yes, the [doctor] was from Holland, I’m glad we did.”

Bethanie added, “Mine was at 13 weeks and was almost the length of my palm by then. God is amazing.”

Another woman, Amy, said she was glad she was able to deliver her baby’s body on her own after a miscarriage. “I miscarried also at about 12 weeks. I was relieved that I did not have the D and C. I waited as long as I could after finding out I lost the baby (girl we found out after),” she said. “Was scheduled and ended up naturally having the baby. We were able to see her as small as she was. A true miracle. I was grateful I was able to see her and say goodbye as brief as it was.”

“This was the size of my baby that I lost! Our baby would of been 42 if it had lived,” Lisa said. “I will see my baby someday in heaven! God bless you for sharing.”

Though preborn children are often robbed of their humanity by the abortion industry, they are human beings with intrinsic value, dignity, and worth.
