‘Miracle Baby’: Couple welcomes baby girl via restorative reproductive medicine

After grieving four successive miscarriages, Karen and Anthony Monetti were advised to undergo in vitro fertilization (IVF) to have the baby they desired, but instead, the couple chose treatment using restorative reproductive medicine (RRM). Now, thanks to successful treatment at MorningStar Family Health Center, an RRM clinic run by Edward Fleming, MD, CFCMD, and Jean Golden-Tevald, DO, CFCMC, FCP, IFMCP, the Monettis are the happy parents of a healthy baby girl.

Key Takeaways:

  • Karen and Anthony Monetti suffered multiple miscarriages and were advised to try IVF. Knowing that IVF typically involves the destruction of human embryos, they opted to try restorative reproductive medicine instead.

  • Thanks to RRM, they were able to conceive and welcome a baby girl.

  • RRM has a higher success rate than IVF because it addresses the root cause of infertility.

  • IVF is a highly profitable business and receives a lot of media attention, meaning many couples are completely unaware of RRM and its potential.

The Details:

The couple initially consulted Karen’s hematologist about infertility and repeated miscarriages. She was 41 at the time, and her hematologist advised the couple to undergo IVF to avoid the potential of carrying a baby with genetic defects.

“My husband and I flat out said, 'We're not doing it. This is all in God's hands. He will take care of us,’” Karen told The Christian Broadcasting Network (CBN).

Karen and Anthony were aware of the fact that the IVF process involves conceiving multiple human embryos, many of which will likely die or be discarded during the process.

"I could not bring myself to that, knowing that there was life there that was not inside of me and I was not birthing,” Karen explained.

The couple opted to try RRM at MorningStar Family Health Center, a clinic operated by Edward Fleming, MD, CFCMD, and Jean Golden-Tevald, DO, CFCMC, FCP, IFMCP. The doctors began examinations of both Anthony and Karen. They found that Karen had several underlying issues likely preventing her from carrying a child to term – serious blood clots and hormonal issues. Not long after beginning to take blood thinners and hormones, Karen gave birth to a beautiful and healthy baby girl – the answer to the couple’s prayers.

The Monettis call their little girl their “miracle baby,” and recommend RRM and the MorningStar Family Health Center for other couples working through infertility.

The Bottom Line:

RRM is shown to have a higher success rate than IVF because RRM addresses the root causes of infertility. IVF, on the other hand, is a process that does nothing to heal a woman’s underlying health issues and commodifies human life, often leading to the destruction of human beings in the embryonic stage.

Despite this, RRM is not widely advertised and, therefore, not many people are aware of it.

"I don't think many people know it exists," Karen said. "I think RRM is not talked about in the mainstream medical practices. I think it's just, 'Go to IVF, go to IVF.'"

Fleming agreed. "Unfortunately, RRM is not very well known, and I think a big reason for that is because it's not advertised as much, in a mainstream sort of way," she said. "There's not a lot of money to be gained in RRM."

There is, however, a massive financial incentive for medical professionals to sell IVF to desperate couples, Fleming pointed out. What they really need is help getting to the root of the problem and healing their bodies for the best chance at conceiving.

"Nothing has hurt, and I've never grieved so much as the infertility journey. But one thing I want to say is there's hope,” Karen Monetti said.
