National March for Life announces 2025 speakers, including Live Action president Lila Rose

The National March for Life will take place on Friday, January 24, 2025, in Washington, D.C., and several notable activists, celebrities, and politicians have been announced as speakers.

Live Action founder and president Lila Rose will speak beginning at noon, before the march begins at 1:00pm. The event will start at 11:00 am with musical performances before the speakers begin. Along with Rose, professional surfer Bethany Hamilton and Governor Ron DeSantis will be speaking, as well as longtime vocal pro-life Rep. Chris Smith (R-N.J.), co-chair of the Congressional Pro-Life Caucus, among others.

“Abortion killed over one million babies last year in the United States alone. This human rights crisis is catastrophic and demands immediate action. The March for Life is an unshakable declaration of a fundamental truth: every single human being, from the moment of fertilization, has the right to live,” Rose said in a press release.

“We march because justice demands it, and love compels it. We will fight every day until every person—born and preborn—is granted full and equal protection under the law. Our nation must recognize the humanity of preborn children in the womb and protect those children from death at the hands of the abortion industry. Abortion dismembers or starves a child, and on January 24th, I will join tens of thousands of Americans in telling Congress, the president, and the Supreme Court that abortion must be abolished entirely.”

Bethany Hamilton became famous after surviving a shark attack in Hawaii as a teenager, and in recent years, has been increasingly outspoken about her pro-life beliefs.

Dear Reader,

Every day in America, more than 2,800 preborn babies lose their lives to abortion.

That number should break our hearts and move us to action.

Ending this tragedy requires daily commitment from people like you who refuse to stay silent.

Millions read Live Action News each month — imagine the impact if each of us took a stand for life 365 days a year.

Right now, we’re urgently seeking 500 new Life Defenders (monthly donors) to join us before the end of October. And thanks to a generous $250,000 matching grant, your first monthly gift will be DOUBLED to help save lives and build a culture that protects the preborn.

Together, we can end abortion and create a future where every child is cherished and every mother is supported.

“I believe that life is a gift, and each and every life has value,” she wrote after announcing a pregnancy with her fourth child, adding, “Every single human life is fearfully and wonderfully made, and I believe should be viewed that way! How beautiful to know you were intentionally made by God. It can bring so much meaning to your life: that you are loved. That you are wonderful. That you have purpose. That you are no accident.”

Florida Governor Ron DeSantis signed the state’s Heartbeat Protection Act (HB 7) into law (protecting most preborn children from abortion upon detectable heartbeat) in April of 2023. The law had been put on hold until the Florida Supreme Court decided the status of the state’s 15-week abortion restriction (HB 5). In April of 2024, the Court decided HB 5 could stand, which then allowed HB 7 to go into effect. DeSantis also came out strongly against pro-abortion Amendment 4 in Florida last year, which would have enshrined abortion as a “right” in the state.

The theme for the 2025 March is a return to the fundamentals of the pro-life movement. “Life: Why We March” was announced as the theme in November.

“Being on the right side of history isn’t always popular or easy,” March for Life said in a video announcing the theme. “When culture is spreading lies about the dignity of life, and it seems like we’re in a losing battle, we might feel like giving up. But we won’t.” Over images of babies, viewers are reminded, “This is why we march. We march to be a voice for the voiceless. We march to end abortion. We march for both mom and baby. […] Because every single life deserves a chance. That is what real human flourishing looks like, and that is why we march.”
