Woman needed 'advanced life support' after abortion at Rhode Island Planned Parenthood

Operation Rescue has received details surrounding an abortion injury occurring at the Planned Parenthood in Providence, Rhode Island, on May 5 — marking the fourth known injury at this location in recent months.

Key Takeaways:

  • A 28-year-old woman required "advanced life support" due to heavy bleeding after an abortion at Planned Parenthood in Providence, Rhode Island.

  • This was the fourth known injury at this location in the last eight months.

  • Rhode Island law does not allow easy access to public records like 911 audio recordings or CAD reports, thereby protecting the abortion facilities that injure women.

The Details:

Operation Rescue received a Computer-Aided Dispatch (CAD) report which noted that the patient, a 28-year-old woman, required that ALS (Advanced Life Support) intervention for heavy bleeding after a procedure (abortion). Hemorrhaging is a known complication of abortion.

As Operation Rescue reports, "Advanced Life Support is typically reserved for medical emergencies requiring a higher level of care, including life-threatening bleeding, airway compromise, cardiac concerns, or other potentially critical conditions."

Zoom Out:

Shockingly, this is the fourth known abortion injury that has occurred at this Planned Parenthood facility over the course of the last eight months. Previous injuries at the facility included “complication after procedure,” and “hemorrhaging after procedure.”

Despite these injuries, Rhode Island law does not allow for the release of public records like 911 calls without the caller's consent or a court order. The CAD reports Operation Rescue has received through freedom of information requests have been heavily redacted. Such secrecy only helps the abortion business, as it continues to injure women inside.

“The city routinely releases only heavily redacted CAD reports, stripping away critical details about the nature and severity of complications, all while claiming to prioritize ‘privacy,’" said Operation Rescue President Troy Newman. "In reality — as we have said many times — this prevents public accountability and proper oversight....”

The Bottom Line:

It is imperative that women know what is going on inside abortion facilities — including that patients are getting injured inside — so that they can make informed decisions before visiting Planned Parenthood.

“We must continue to expose the truth and to challenge state and city officials who are actively hiding the dangers and repercussions of abortion," said Newman. "States should be protecting their citizens, not letting them wander into dangerous abortion clinics at their own risk.”
