Illegally operating abortion facility under investigation by State Health Department
The Alabama Department of Public Health announced today that they are investigating New Woman All Women, a Birmingham abortion facility that is continuing to provide abortions despite the fact that its license was revoked almost a year ago because of its history of hurting women.
At 11:00 this morning, CEC for Life and other pro-life groups held a press conference outside New Woman All Women, demanding that the ADPH take action against the law-breaking abortion center.
Rev. Terry Gensemer of CEC for Life, Garrett Vande Kamp of Students for Life at Samford University, Amy Hase of Bama Students For Life, and Sue Turner of Alabama Physicians for Life spoke about New Woman All Women’s illegal activities at the press conference this morning.
New Woman All Women’s criminal activity has been exposed during a crucial time for the pro-life movement in Alabama. The Women’s Health and Safety Act, a bill that would hold abortion facilities to the same medical standards as other outpatient surgical centers, makes it a felony for non-physicians to perform abortions and require abortionists to obtain admitting privileges at a local hospital, passed the state House and the Senate Health Committee. The Senate is expected to vote on the bill sometime in the next few weeks.
Unsurprisingly, pro-abortion groups have largely remained silent in regards to New Woman All Women’s disregard for the law. Last week, a group of abortion-backers gathered in Huntsville to protest the “war on women.” Hunstville is home to an abortion center that state health inspectors recently found to have neglected to clean tables between abortions.
Pro-abortion forces continue to fight against commonsense regulations on abortion facilities, but the practices of illegal abortion mills like New Woman All Women – which are dangerous to all women, are deadly to unborn children, and benefit only greedy, money-seeking abortion businesses – demonstrate the desperate need for the abortion industry to be more carefully regulated.
