Group behind pro-abortion 'storytelling' site also bankrolls 'fake' advocacy groups
Abortion in America, a pro-abortion "storytelling" website, aims to "show the impact of abortion bans" to "build public support for reproduction freedom" — but it's far from being a grassroots effort.
The organization, though co-founded by the late former Planned Parenthood Federation of America president Cecile Richards, is actually a project of the pro-abortion Hopewell Fund, which grants millions to abortion businesses and groups.
The pro-abortion storytelling website, Abortion in America, is funded by a group that appears to set up 'fake' websites for groups meant to look like 'standalone nonprofits' for the purpose of pro-abortion advocacy. It also funds abortion businesses that directly kill preborn children.
The Hopewell Fund is this group, and it also helps pro-abortion groups to attack pregnancy help centers and attempt to discredit and attack 'abortion pill reversal.'
No matter how it is portrayed by pro-abortion media, abortion is the intentional killing of an innocent preborn human being; this is not health care.
In 2024, at the time the platform was launched, Forbes reported:
A shared mission to humanize the suffering and stories behind these policies led to the creation of Abortion in America - an organization aimed at amplifying these muted voices in an era of increasingly restrictive abortion laws.
... the organization launched their new platform led by former Planned Parenthood president Cecile Richards, Florida abortion provider Eileen Diamond, Baton-Rouge-based mom and advocate Kaitlyn Joshua, writer Lauren Peterson and Florida reproductive freedom advocate Lillian Tamayo. This project brings together front-line storytellers and journalists chronicling this unprecedented moment for American women, families and communities.
Notably, Kaitlyn Joshua had a miscarriage, not an induced abortion.
This is important when it comes to the website, as well, because the stories shared there aren't just about induced abortion; they are about things like prenatal care and miscarriage treatment — which will, perhaps intentionally, serve to deceive the public about what an induced abortion truly is.

The Abortion in America (AIA) website states that "abortioninamerica.org is a new online home for stories about abortion post-Roe — stories of a heartbreaking loss of rights as well as stories of resilience and determination."
The website adds that the site "is a project of Hopewell Fund, a 501(c)(3)."
The AIA website claims:
Abortion in America is a new national effort to support storytelling that shows the impact of abortion bans on people’s lives.
When Roe v. Wade was overturned, Americans lost a right essential to our health, lives, and opportunities.
Since then, brave people have come forward to share stories of being unable to access prenatal care, forced to travel hundreds of miles for abortion care, or left with no option but to give birth. Health care providers have spoken out about the challenges of treating their patients, family members have given voice to the pain and trauma of watching a loved one struggle after being denied care, and faith leaders have underscored the importance of standing up for dignity and freedom in this unprecedented moment.
Research shows that personal stories about the harm caused by abortion bans have the power to change hearts and minds, and build public support for reproductive freedom.
A few notes: 1) An inability to access prenatal care could be due to maternity care deserts, which exist in pro-abortion and pro-life states alike, and existed long before Roe was overturned. 2) Intentional killing isn't "care," no matter how it is portrayed. 3) Whose dignity is upheld? Certainly not that of the human who is deliberately killed and thrown out with medical waste, flushed into the sewer system, or ground up in an industrial garbage disposal. 4) No one should have the so-called "freedom" to kill innocent human beings.
The initial impression is that the AIA website will be filled with organic stories, but in reality it appears to republish pro-abortion news from various states, and fails to demonstrate the realities of how induced abortion intentionally destroys preborn children:

Under "current openings," the website acknowledges that "Abortion in America is a project of Hopewell Fund, a 501(c)(3) public charity that incubates new and innovative public-interest projects and grant-making programs."

The nonprofit Hopewell Fund was established in 2015 and is managed by Arabella Advisors.
According to the website InfluenceWatch, the Hopewell Fund pays for a large amount of online pro-abortion advocacy:
The Hopewell Fund, like all four nonprofits managed by the for-profit consultancy Arabella Advisors, primarily exists to sponsor a number of “fake” groups: websites designed to look like standalone nonprofits.
These “fake” groups rarely become fully-fledged nonprofits; instead, they typically exist to effect an issue advocacy campaign pushing left-wing policies and may disappear after the campaign is finished....
... [M]ost of the “fake” groups it sponsors are focused on expanding abortion access and criticizing President Donald Trump’s healthcare policies.
The fund receives grants from the pro-abortion William and Flora Hewlett Foundation. Live Action News previously documented that, in past years, the David and Lucile Packard Foundation (an original investor in the abortion pill and GenBioPro, the first approved generic manufacturer), granted over $12 million to the Hopewell Fund.
Claiming the Fund was established to "advanc[e]public good and achiev[e] equity for all people" (except for the ones in the womb, apparently), Hopewell Fund dollars financially bolster groups that attack pro-life pregnancy centers, oppose 'abortion pill reversal' (APR) and fund multiple abortion campaigns and organizations like these:
Campaign for Accountability (CFA) - clear pro-abortion bias, has been funded by the Hopewell Fund
openDemocracy - has heavily attacked APR; Hopewell Fund is listed as an openDemocracy supporter
Equity Forward - project of Hopewell Fund, founded in 2017 and launched in 2018; anything but equitable when it comes to disclosing pro-abortion bias
Resources for Abortion Delivery (RAD) project - claims online to make “grants and loans to independent abortion providers across the United States (both 501c3 and taxable businesses) to help them protect or expand abortion access," among other things
The Hopewell Fund has also funneled dollars to Gynuity Health Projects, which often conducts abortion pill trials. Hopewell's 2023 990 reveals it funneled millions of dollars into multiple abortion facilities:
Alamo Women's Clinic of Albuquerque, NM: $1.5M
Alamo Women's Clinic of Illinois: $1.5M
Family Planning Associates Medical Group: $1M
Feminist Women's Health Center Atlanta, GA: $1.2M
Summit Medical Associates in Atlanta, GA: $1.6M
Hope Clinic for Women in Granite City, IL: $2.5M
Trust Women Foundation in Wichita, KS: $1.7M
Previous years' financial statements revealed similar funding for Big Abortion and the industry's supporting agencies (like the Abortion Care Network).
Through its "Abortion in America" website, the Hopewell Fund is painting a distorted picture of abortion in this country. Here's the truth:
Today, women are coming forward to testify about the after-effects of seeing their preborn children after self-managed abortions at home.
Multiple Google reviews have shed light on what women are actually experiencing inside abortion facilities, and it is disturbing.
Undercover investigations are also exposing the gruesome truth about abortion procedures.
Live Action's Baby Olivia website reveals the truth about preborn children in the womb, while Big Abortion rails against it and deceptively markets itself to draw in potential customers.

Websites like "Abortion in America" hide behind fake hype because abortion has always been a violent and gruesome act against innocent children. No amount of funding from groups like the Hopewell Fund will change that truth.
