George Clooney and Annette Bening set to star in pro-assisted death film

Academy Award-winning actor George Clooney and Golden Globe-winning actress Annette Bening are starring together in a movie that glamorizes assisted suicide. The film "In Love" is an adaptation of a New York Times bestselling book about a man with Alzheimer's disease. Clooney will also produce the film.

Key Takeaways:

  • The upcoming pro-assisted suicide film, based on the bestselling book, "In Love," stars George Clooney and Annette Bening.

  • The book, "In Love: A Memoir of Love and Loss," tells the story of Amy Bloom's husband, who is diagnosed with Alzheimer's disease and ultimately seeks physician-assisted suicide.

  • The film is just the latest Hollywood attempt to glamorize and romanticize assisted suicide.

  • Assisted suicide is marketed as loving and compassionate because the person at the center is ill or disabled. When an able-bodied person seeks suicide, it is viewed as a tragedy that must be prevented.

The Details:

According to The Hollywood Reporter, the movie is to be financed and released by the film studio Anton, led by CEO Sébastien Raybaud. It is an adaptation of commentator and author Amy Bloom’s New York Times bestseller "In Love: A Memoir of Love and Loss." The book follows the story of Bloom’s husband, who was diagnosed with Alzheimer's disease. Instead of providing him with palliative care where he could live out the rest of his days, Bloom convinced her husband to travel to Switzerland, where he was killed at the physician-assisted death facility Dignitas.

Cinema Express reported that the 2022 book was “celebrated as a moving testament to love, courage, and loss, earning the title of TIME Magazine’s Best Nonfiction Book of the Year and a spot among its 100 must-read books.”

Study: Assisted suicide can be painful, prolonged and inhumane

Hollywood is no stranger to movies that glamorize and romanticize assisted suicide or euthanasia. The 2016 drama "Me Before You" followed the story of Louisa, played by Emilie Clarke, who falls in love with a quadriplegic man, Will, portrayed by Sam Claflin. Louisa tries to show Will that life is worth living, but he ultimately travels to Switzerland for the same reason as Bloom's husband — to commit suicide.

From these examples, the messaging from the entertainment industry is clear: do not seek to help your loved one, kill them. How do they find “dignity” in allowing mad scientists masquerading as medical professionals to inject poison into your loved one? It is a mystery, but the narrative's point is not lost: Those experiencing suffering should have their lives ended. There is no dignity in that — just selfishness.

Dear Reader,

Every day in America, more than 2,800 preborn babies lose their lives to abortion.

That number should break our hearts and move us to action.

Ending this tragedy requires daily commitment from people like you who refuse to stay silent.

Together, we can end abortion and create a future where every child is cherished and every mother is supported.

As Wesley J. Smith writes at the National Review, “How many pro-euthanasia movies/TV episodes have there been? It’s hard to keep count. How many anti-assisted-suicide/pro-care projects? Honestly, I can’t think of one even though there are plenty of dramatic stories illustrating the abuses and dangers just waiting to be told.”

The entertainment industry has a problem, promoting euthanasia and abortion in a nefarious manner, glamorizing these killings as acts of “love” or “dignity.” It is a shame, as the assisted suicide conglomerates are growing. We find that Uruguay, Canada, Scotland, and several other nations are expanding programs to target the disabled, the ill, and the depressed with death.

As Live Action News previously noted, “In numerous countries, the so-called 'right to die' quickly becomes a duty to die, with vulnerable people — the disabled, the poor, the elderly — robbed of health care and support. They are often made to feel that their suicidal ideations are worth acting upon, because their lives cost the system too much money — and therefore, are simply not worth saving.”

"American Pie" director Paul Weitz is directing "In Love" and co-writing the script with Bloom. The film is scheduled for a release on May 16, 2026.

Screen Daily reports that Raybaud has accepted funding from asset manager BlackRock, a corporation that helped Planned Parenthood fund abortion tourism. The death culture is deeply connected from abortion to euthanasia.

The Bottom Line:

The way the media and Hollywood see it, love means stepping aside and even acting as an accomplice when a loved one no longer sees value in his or her life and wants to die by suicide. When an able-bodied individual is suicidal, efforts are made to save that person's life. But when a person has a chronic or 'terminal' illness or disability, suddenly, suicide is compassionate and loving.
