Time is Ticking - Congress Must Defund Planned Parenthood PERMANENTLY
Live Action Releases Countdown Clock to Remind Congress of Looming Deadline and Spur Action
Washington, D.C. —Today, Live Action, one of the nation’s leading human rights organizations, releases their new online countdown clock and information page on Defunding Planned Parenthood and all organizations that commit abortion, as a reminder to federal policymakers that time is of the essence.
On July 4, 2026, the current restrictions on federal funding for Planned Parenthood are set to expire, and hundreds of millions in taxpayer dollars will again flow to the nation’s largest abortion provider. With less than eight months remaining, pro-life organizations are urging Congress to ensure a permanent solution is in place to prevent the restoration of this funding.

“Planned Parenthood is the largest abortion chain in the United States. Each year, it received hundreds of millions of dollars in taxpayer funding while committing over 402,230 abortions and administering dangerous cross sex hormones on minors.
This year, Congress included a one-year defund of Planned Parenthood and other organizations that commit abortion in the federal budget, but that restriction expires on July 4, 2026. That means Planned Parenthood could be funded again next year unless Congress acts. We are calling for a permanent taxpayer defund of all organizations that commit abortion, not another temporary restriction that can be undone from one year to the next.
Next year, our nation will mark its 250th anniversary; a celebration of human dignity and the God-given rights proclaimed in our founding. But we cannot celebrate freedom while subsidizing the killing of American children. As we prepare to honor our country, we must return to the truth declared at our beginning that all men are created equal and endowed by their Creator with the right to life. We cannot meaningfully celebrate that principle while simultaneously funding the destruction of our most vulnerable. It is time for Planned Parenthood to be permanently defunded and completely shut down.”
