·Washington, D.C. – Today, Live Action, one of the nation's leading human rights organizations, together with Defund Coalition partners, hosted a joint press conference on Capitol Hill urging Congress to permanently end taxpayer funding for Planned Parenthood and abortion businesses.
The event, emceed by Live Action’s Christina Bennett, highlighted the urgent need to redirect millions of taxpayer dollars away from the abortion giant and toward true women’s health care alternatives. Speakers emphasized the dangers of the abortion pill and the cross-sex hormones largely provided by Planned Parenthood. In its last fiscal year, Planned Parenthood received $832 million dollars in taxpayer funding while committing over 430,000 abortions of American preborn children.
Lila Rose, founder and president of Live Action, released the following statement:
“Taxpayer dollars should never be used to prop up America’s largest abortion business. Planned Parenthood exists to end the lives of preborn children, and every dollar it receives helps sustain an industry built on violence against the innocent. The American people should not be made to subsidize abortion businesses under the guise of women’s health. Defund Planned Parenthood now.”
In his powerful speech, Senator Josh Hawley stated:
“Congress should have acted long ago. There is no excuse for Planned Parenthood to be receiving taxpayer money to be carrying out the mutilation of our children, to be carrying out the murder of the innocent unborn, and yet that is what this Congress is planning to do. I’m here to say, ‘not on my watch’. It is absolutely unacceptable and indefensible that a Republican Congress would fund Planned Parenthood.”
